Sunday March 19th Games:
Tipperary Cup 1/4 Final Junior A - Peake Villa 1 - 0 Tipperary Town
Villa advanced to the Semi Final of the Tipperary Cup after a 1-0 win against fellow Premier League side Tipperary Town. Like any Cup Tie it was a cagey affair throughout with some key players missing for the home side. Villa should have went ahead in the 8th minute when Dale Loughnane's cross decievd everybody and struck the far post, it bounced up probably too quickly for Matthew Fogarty whose heder went back across the goal line and trickled wide. Matthew Mckevitt was put through by Maris Baltins in the 12th minute but his shot just went wide of the post. Tipperary Town had their first shot on goal in the 18th minute which sailed over the bar. Both teams threatened throughout the half without creating much. Stephen Ryan made a telling save in the 38th minute to keep out the Tipperary side. The break through came right on halftime in the 45th minute when Kevin Croke played a good ball to Mikey Wade whose shot from 18 yards across the keeper found the bottom corner. 1-0 half time.
The second half began like the first with limited chances for both sides. It wasn't until the 65th minute before the first real chance came and it was Tipperary Town who nearly got an equaliser only for a superb save by Stephen Ryan. Adam Garrett and Anto Walker came on for injured Mikey Wade and Keith Cahill and the fresh leg's were just what Villa needed with Garrett coming close to scoring in the 68th and 72nd minute. Tipperary Town created a chance in the 83rd minute but the shot went wide of the post. Billy McCarthy turned sharply in the 86th minute but his shot went straight at the keeper. There were no more chances before the final whistle and Villa progress to the Semi Final. Alan Leahy had another fine game in defence with Maris Baltins playing well in midfield.
Division Three League - Ballyneale 1 - 8 Peake Villa B
Peake Villa B were away to Ballyneale in the league. Ronan McGuire opened the scoring in the 8th minute getting on the end of a great cross from Damien Grimes. Damien got Villa's second when Ballyneale failed to clear a corner. 2-0 at halftime.
Villa started the second half quickly and had three goals in the first ten minutes, two from Ronan McGuire and one from Damien Grimes.
Ballyneale did get a goal back in the 68th minute but that was as good as it got for them as Villa scored three more times, two more from Ronan and one from David Bourke to leave the score 8-1 to Peake Villa. A great performance from the lads especially Ronan McGuire whose five goals in this match brings him to 51 goals so far this season.
U12 Girls Premier League - Kilburn 5 - 7 Peake Villa
Our U12 girls travelled to Burncourt in the league and came away with all three points in a pulsating game played in hard conditions. Villa took the lead after 8 minutes with a great solo effort from Chloe Shorly. They went 2-0 up on 15 minute's when Maria Ralph scored.
They went 3-0 up just before half-time when Emma Kelly scored. Kilburn got back into the game in the 2nd half with two quick Goals in the first 5 minutes. This woke the Villa girls up and Chloe Shorly scored two in 3 minutes to make it 5-2. Kilburn wouldn't go away and made it 5-3 shortly after. Maria Ralph then made it 7-3 with two goals in a couple of minutes. Kilburn got two more before the end in what was a great game played on a tough pitch. Well done to Chloe Shorly and Maria Ralph on scoring a hatrick apiece.
