TSDL Premier Division League Peake Villa 3-3 Clonmel Celtic
Scorers: Tommy Teer (1) Ronan McGuire (1), Pippy Carroll (1)
The Villa Junior A team entertained Premier League leaders this morning up at the Tower grounds in a 6 goal thriller, that had a bit of everything for the big crowd who were definitely entertained.
Villa started brightly with Clonmel Celtic content on sitting and breaking quick when the opportunity arose. Villa came close on 25 minutes when good play down the left by Mikey Wade saw him pass to Maris Baltins whose shot went cross the goal line and narrowly wide. Celtic's first real opportunity lead to the opening goal when Stephen Ryan back in the Villa goal after six weeks away due to work commitments saved only for the rebound to fall to Kian O'Sullivan who made no mistake. 1-0 Celtic. Villa were unlucky not to equalise in the 45th minute when Mikey Wade hit the post. 1-0 Celtic at Half time.
Villa did all the pressing early in the first half with Jody Harkin and Mikey Nally controlling midfield but it was Celtic who went 2-0 ahead against the run of play from a near post corner with Kian O'Sullivan getting the last touch. Pippy Carroll came on for Villa on the hour mark and had a massive impact with some slick passing. Villa got one back in the 65th minute after great work down the left released Tommy Teer who made no mistake shooting low under the body of the keeper. Only one minute later Villa were level when James O Sullivan and Ronan McGuire linked up well and Ronan made no mistake finding the bottom corner. 2-2. Villa had a serious penalty shout waved away when Mikey Nally got kicked in the Penalty area but the Penalty was not rewarded. Villa were caught on the break in the 82nd minute and Clonmel Celtic against the run of play made it 3-2. Villa were pushing hard after this and were awarded a penalty when Celtics defender handled the ball in the penalty box. Pippy Carroll made no mistake with the penalty kick in the 87th minute. 3-3. Clonmel Celtic were reduced to 10 men for the last couple of minutes from a sending off.
This was a highly entertaining game that had a bit of everything. 3-3 Full Time.
TSDL Division 2 League Peak Villa 4 - 2 Kilsheelan United
Scorer: Kieran Hennessey (4)
Villa entertained a strong and well organised Kilsheelan team today with Villa looking to keep the recent winning streak going.
It was an evenly matched start to the game with most of game been played in the middle third. Villa began to get more possession and threatened through good efforts from Darragh Byrne and Damo Grimes. Villa took the lead after some great work from Stevie Fewer and Kevin Croke combining to let Kieran Hennessy finish to the bottom left corner. The restart continued in the same vain with some tough but fair tackling in the midfield area, with Stevie Fewer putting in some great ball winning tackles before half time. 1-0 half time
The second half began as first ended but after missing a couple of chances Villa began to drop deeper under sustained possession from Kilsheelan who got a deserved equaliser from a corner. This was soon followed up with a second by KIlsheelan to leave it 2-1 to visitors with 25 mins left. Kilsheelan continued to push forward and but for two top class saves from goalkeeper Shane McGuire the game would have been out of sight for Villa. To their credit Villa rolled up their sleeves and started to win the 50-50 balls and more possession which led to an equaliser from Kieran Hennessy. Soon after a corner from Darragh Byrne was finished to the net by Kieran Hennessy to put villa 3-2 with 10 minutes left. This was a sucker punch to the visitors and as their heads dropped Villa pushed forward for a fourth. It came after a sublime cheeky lob of the keeper by Damo Grimes, which Kieran Hennessy made sure it went over line for his fourth goal of the day. Villa nearly added a fifth through Hennessy again but saw the game out for a fantastic result. This leaves Villa top of the Division 2 League and clear by 3 points from the 2nd place team.
It was superb effort from all the lads, but particular mention goes to Kevin Quinn, Cormac Lanigan, Stevie Fewer, four goal hero Kieran Hennessy but man of match on the day has to go to Shane McGuire in the goal.
Saturday October 28th
Our u10A & B squads had their first games against Cahir Park on the Peake Villa astro. The two games were between two sides that wanted to play football, the skills on display demonstrated by the u10 players was a joy to watch. Well done to both clubs.
u14 Premier Peake Villa A 3-2 Cahir Park
The Peake Villa u14A hosted Cahir Park in their first league game of the season and started the brightest making several good chances but could not put them away. Cahir slowly grew into the game and only for the excellent goalkeeping of Josh Cody between the sticks Villa could have been in trouble. Strikers Ciaran Woodlock, Robbie Stapleton and Dean Mulcaire were a constant thorn in the Cahir defenders side creating chance after chance but unfortunately, they couldn't break the deadlock. Villa also had great chances fall to Scott Brennan and Ronan Tangri, with both very unlucky not to score. Villa did take the lead when substitute Siya Ndzingani came on and within a few minutes coolly slotted the ball home from 12 yards out. 1-0 to Villa at half-time.
Things continued the same in the 2nd half, Villa made several good chances but could not finish them and close out the game. Cahir to their credit never stopped battling and forced a corner and when the ball was swung in, a moment of hesitation resulted in the Villa player slicing the ball into his own net. 1-1. This seemed to kick the lads into gear and from the kick off they broke into the Cahir half and got a free kick on the right-hand side. The always excellent Niall Dunne swung the ball into the box for Darragh Minogue to get on the end of it and touch past the keeper, 2-1. Villas back line was in fine form with Aidan Butler leading the line winning any ball which was put in and he was assisted by Conor Wall. Alex Moloney and Sean Gleeson were up and down the wing pinning the Cahir players well in their half. Villa upped the tempo even more with Corey Moore getting in behind the Cahir backs working hard to finish the game off and his hard work was rewarded when he played the ball out to Ciaran Woodlock on the left who wrapped up a man of the match performance when he got on the ball, cut inside and coolly slotted it home. 3-1. Villa were in cruise control at this stage but with five minutes to go Villa gave away a silly free kick which Cahir knocked into the box and when Villa failed to clear, one of the Cahir players tapped it home. 3-2. This could have made things tricky for Villa but lead by captain Josh Connelly Villa regrouped and they never looked in trouble and finished out the game 3-2 winners. A superb team performance from Villa and a solid start to their league campaign.
u14 Championship Peake Villa B 0-4 Cashel Town A
The Villa u14B squad hosted Cashel Town and the final result does not reflect the amount of great play by this squad. Cashel scored after 10 minutes when a mix-up in defense allowed the Cashel striker though on goal with only the keeper to beat. Villa continued to spread the ball around but were let down by their inability to finish off the many scoring chanches they created. They were hit a cruel blow when, from a corner kick the ball deflected of the Villa player into the path of an inrushing Cashel player who made no mistake from two yards. With five minutes left Villa had just created another scoring chance, but shot straight at the Cahir keeper who played a quick long ball to their right mid-fielder who hit a sweet shot into the top corner from outside the box. Half-Time 3-0 to Cashel.
In the second half, Villa tighten things up in defense but could not get the goal they deserved and were caught on the break by Cashel who scored their fourth. Full-Time 4-0 to Cashel.
u12 Premier St Kevins A 0-3 Peake Villa A
Scorers: Tom Delaney (1) Artem Izkho (2)
The Villa u12A team travelled to local rivals St. Kevin's. Kevin's had the first chance when a deflection was brilliantly saved onto the post by Fionn. The rest of the half Villa dominated the territory, possession and scoring chances. Villa got the break through on 14 minutes when Tom Delaney brought down a clearance with his chest and volleyed from 20 yards, with the ball taking a deflection to go into the top corner. Soon after following brilliant link up play between tom Finn and Artem, Finn sent a header just over the bar from Tom's deep cross. One last chance in the half fell to Eamon but he pulled his shot just wide. 1-0 Villa half-time.
The 2nd half followed the same pattern with Villa chasing down the ball and not giving Kevin's any time on the ball. Villa's 2nd came through an amazing shot from Artem from 20 yards which flew into the top corner. The Kevin's keeper made a number of good saves after this to keep the score down. Villa pressed on and a good move resulted in a shot that was saved but Artem was on hand to bury the rebound 3-0.
A great performance from the whole squad with special mention for Jake, Ronan, Keith, Tom and Artem who performed excellently throughout the game.
u12 Division 1 Peake Villa B 8-0 Bansha Celtic B
Scorers: Pierce Ivors (3) James McBrearty (2) John Delaney (2)Eoin Boyle (1)
Villa u12B hosted Bansha Celtic and put in a strong team performance, where Villa dominated from start to finish. Villa got the perfect start with two early goals from Pierce Ivors and from there controlled the game. Bansha had a mixture of u12 and u11 players in their squad and even though they were lacking size against Villa's squad they gave it their all. Both sides kept a quick pace to the game which meant scoring opportunities were in abundance. James McBrearty scored twice, one a fine headed finish after a great build up with several players involved. 4-0 Half-Time.
In the second half Pierce would complete his hat trick. John Delaney scored twice also, his first a volley into the bottom corner from a great Luke Murray cross. Eoin Boyle capped off a fine individual performance with a goal for himself. A very strong team effort from all players involved.
