Sunday December 17th

u14 Girls way game to Cashel Town - POSTPONED, pitch unplayable.

Saturday December 16th

u15A won 5-2 away v St. Michael's A
Scorers: Liam McCormack (2) Sean Condron (1) Darragh Stakelum (1), Scott Brennan (1)

Villa were away to St. Michael's in the league Saturday morning and came away with all 3 points. Conditions for the game were good. Villa started well and dominated for most of the first half. They took the lead in the 16th minute when Liam McCormack scored from a free kick. They doubled the lead in the 25th minute when Sean Condron scored with a header from a McCormack corner. Right on half time St. Michael's were given a lifeline when they scored to make it 2-1 at the break.

In the second half Villa went 3-1 ahead when Alejandro Garcia Dias played a great ball over the top and Liam McCormack struck the ball on the volley lobbing the goalie. St. Michael'ls made it 3-2 with 20 minutes to go, when the Villa defense failed to clear their lines. Darragh Stakelum made it 4-2 with a fine finish cutting in from the left. Scott Brennan made it 5-2 with 6 minutes left with Stakelum again coming in from the left and he squared it to Brennan who made no mistake. 5-2 Full time.

A great start to the season for our u15's with 4 wins out of 4 in the league and into the last 32 in the SFAI National Cup and they also have a Regional Semi-final to look forward to when they resume in the new year.

u15B lost 5-1 home v Gortnahoe A
Scorer: Nathan Cornally

Peake Villa Under 15B’s were at home against a strong Gortnahoe team today. The game was even enough with both teams trying to play good football. Gortnahoe got on top mid way into the first half with a quick counter attack, Peake Villa went 0-1 down. Villa soon found themselves 0-3 down after two more counter attacks. The team never dropped their heads and kept trying to get back into game. The game was very even just before halftime when Gortnahoe broke from midfield and they scored into the bottom corner. Peake Villa were 0-4 down at halftime

Into the second half Villa dominated and were unlucky not to score on a few occasions. With the score still at 0-4 and Villa well on top, Gortnahoe were handed a very soft penalty which they scored. Villa never gave up with some great attacking down the left from Jekabs Rubins & Nathan Cornally. Villa finally scored with some great interplay from Conor Wall who split the defense with a great pass to Nathan Cornally who calmly placed the ball at the near post. Final score Gotnahoe 5-1 Peake Villa.

Good team performance today with Calum Cleary and Brandon Mills having great games. Special mention to David Purcell u13 goalkeeper who played in goals for us today.

u13A won 4-1 home v Clonmel Town B
Scorers: Cian Cleary (2) Daniel Rossiter (1) Danny Moore (1)

Peake Villa controlled this game from the start. Villa pressed on Clonmel and Cian Cleary opened the scoring after 10 minutes. Against the run of play Clonmel scored to make it 1-1. Peake Villa responded immediately with another goal from Cian Cleary and ended the half with another goal from Danny Moore. Half-Time 3-1 to Villa.

The second half was more of the same with continuous pressure from Villa and Danny Rossiter scored from a long range shot to finish the game 4-1 to Peake Villa.

u13B won 3-0 away v Mullinahone United
Scorers: Adam Jones (1) Sam Cooney (1) Mark Davis (1)

Villa travelled to league toppers Mulinahone. Villa squad was depleted due to illness and even with a depleted squad Villa started strongly and were the better team for the first 20 minutes without scoring. The deadlock was broken when a smart pass from Eoin Mockler put Adam Jones in on goal, who with a tidy finish made it 1-0 to Villa. Villa kept the pressure on and scored a great second with an unstoppable shot from Sam Cooney. Half time 0 - 2 to Villa.

Villa played the second half with great spirit, fighting to win every ball and restricted Mulinahone to a few long range shots which were dealt with by stand in goalie Thomas Larkin. Villa were rewarded with a 3rd goal after another fine finish from Mark Davis. Overall a fantastic result. Well done to all the lads.

PV u11A lost v Clerihan A

This was a tough match for the makeshift A squad, as 5 regular A squad players were unavailable, so a few of the B squad played up. Both sides played some good football, but Villa’s concentration let them down and Clerihan were more clinical at finishing their scoring opportunites.

PV u11B lost v Clerihan B
Villa were unlucky to loose this game but paid the price for not converting their scoring chances. Both sides played some lovely passing football and it was end-to-end non stop efforts from both sets of players.

PV u11C won v Clerihan C
This was a great win for the C squad who played their hearts out. Thanks to Chloe and Euan, Bobby and Calum from u10’s who helped as we had a number of players who were not available. Clerihan were unlucky not to get the draw.
