TSDL Premier League Peake Villa Junior A 2-1 Two Mile Borris
Scorers: Pippy Carroll (1) Mikey Wade (1)
Villa got back to winning ways today after a hard-fought battle and well-earned 3 points against local rivals Two Mile Borris.
Villa started the brightest and had Borris on the back foot early with Tommy Teer and Mikey Wade causing havoc on the wings. Despite the terrible pitch conditions Borris couldn’t live with the quick passing and pressing, in particular Keith Cahill and Pippy Carroll linking very well. After 20mins still 0-0, another powerful run from Mikey Wade down the right, beating 2 defenders he was finally brought down in the box for a penalty. Up stepped Pippy Carroll and put the ball into the bottom corner only for a wonderful save from the Borris keeper. Evan McCormack won a great 50/50 just inside his own half, carried the ball, played a one two and looked as if he was going to score until he was hacked down in the box for another penalty. Pippy struck it again, this time hitting the post to everyone’s disbelief. Villa were winning the battle in the middle of the park with Anthony Walker and Aidan McCormack dominating possession. Finally, the deadlock was broken when a corner whipped in by Mikey Wade was met with a thundering header from Pippy Carroll to put Villa 1-0 in front. Keith Cahill almost made it 2 when he struck a curling effort off the post. Ronan McGuire played an inch perfect 40 hard diagonal ball over all the defenders to find Mikey Wade who took 1 touch and smashed the back into the back of the net. 2-0. Borris to their credit kept battling and Willie Tierney had to be on his toes when a break away nearly caught Villa out, but he got down well to save.
Second half Borris started much quicker with Villa slow to get going. After some sloppy defending Borris pulled one back to make it a nervous last 20minutes. Villa pressed and pressed but couldn’t break down the Borris defence. Borris pushed for an equaliser but Willie Tierney in the goals was confident and cool with anything that came his way. Game finished 2-1.
Best players on the day were Mikey Wade, Willie Tierney, Aidan Mc Cormack but man of the match was Evan McCormack in the heart of defence.
TSDL Division 2 League Peake Villa Junior B 1-1 St. Nicholas
Scorer: Darren Connor (1)
Villa started today with a strong team despite a couple of key players injured looking to continue the good form of late. Villa started the game slowly and allowed the visitors a couple of half chances and they were awarded a penalty after 10 mins which they converted. Villa tried to respond straight away and stated to keep the ball a little better but were finding it hard to string passes together on the pitch surface. After a number of corners from sustained pressure, a good passing movement led to a great cross into the box from Seamie Hanafin which was finished to the net by Darren Connor. Half time 1-1.
In the second half Villa dominated possession with the occasional counter attack from the visitors but Villa were missing a lot of chances with efforts from Damo Grimes, Eoin Dwyer and Kieran Hennessy not finding the target. Despite this Villa kept creating chances which between bad finishing and good defending from the visitors, Villa could just not get the ball over the line. Shane McGuire pulled off a great save from a rare attack from the visitors. Villa created more chances that came and went, as it was all Villa at this stage. Unfortunately, time ran out and in the end it was a disappointing draw 1-1 for the final score.
Despite the slippery surface Villa had enough chances today to win the game but failed to convert. Best on the day for Villa were Seamie Hanafin and Stevie Fewer.
TSSDL Girls u18 Premier Peake Villa 5 - 8 Cahir Park
Scorers: Lauren McCormack (4) Chloe Cummins (1)
The Villa u18 Girls hosted Cahir Park at the Top Pitch, which was very soft and resulted in a lot of players slipping on the surface. Villa started the quickest and an excellent through ball by Carla was met on the run by Lauren McCormack who calmly slotted home. 5 minutes later Cahir equalised via a fine solo effort by their number eight who used her speed to beat the Villa defence to a ball over the top, rounded the keeper and slotted home. A few minutes later Chloe Cummins combined with Lauren in a lovely one two for Lauren to score her second. Unfortunately, the next three goals were scored by Cahir Park, all three were the result of decisions by the referee that were a bit harsh on the girls. The first was an offside decision not given with two Cahir Park girls clearly off-side, but the goal stood much to the frustration of Rebecca Birmingham-Jordan and Amy Cummins who clearly thought they had played the off-side correctly. The second and third were questionable penalties awarded to Cahir Park, and resulted in Sophie Long the goalkeeper getting booked for the first one. This turned the match on its head and Cahir Park now lead 4-2 at half-time.
In the second half Villa were determined to give it their all, with Lillian Murray put Chloe Cummins through on goal to make it 4-3. Cahir responded with another goal after some excellent combination play by Molly Coffey and Ellie O'Sullivan who hit a great long range shot past the Villa keeper. 5-3. Lauren McCormack then scored from a corner when her shot deflected off a defender past the Cahir goalkeeper 5-4. Cahir Park then latched on to two defensive errors by Villa in failing to clear their lines and scored two in quick succession 7-4. Lauren then scored her fourth when she took a corner down and volley the ball into the top right-hand corner 7-5. But Cahir Park responded with another attack that lead to their final score 8-5.
Villa are rebuilding their u18 and u16 squads and the difference in match experience was the main difference between the Villa and Cahir Park girls.
TSSDL Girls u14 Premier St. Kevin's 0-1 Peake Villa
Scorer: Missy Condon
The Villa U14As girls travelled to neighbours St Kevin's to play their league match. It was a good game played by both teams on heavy conditions. St Kevin's controlled the first 20 minutes, creating chances but Villa's defence held solid, with Chloe Shorley saving a few in the Villa goals. Villa got more into it with attacks on the right wing but failed to convert the chances created. Halt-time 0-0.
Villa dominated the 2nd half and Kevin's held out as long as they could until Marian Condon scored through a lovely run up the middle and slotting it in the corner. A good 0-1 away win for Peake Villa girls.

TSDL Youths League Division 1 Cahir park 2 - 1 Peake Villa
Scorer: Frank McKevitt (1)
The lads travelled to Cahir in a title showdown in their penultimate game and knew 3pts was a must. Playing on the narrow artificial surface, Villa started brightly and opened the scoring with a superb Frank McKevitt strike from 20yards that hit the top corner. The lads were very comfortable and played nice football for the first 25 mins allowing Cahir very little. The home side grew into the game and were rewarded on 35mins when a move down the left was finished close to the post.
Halftime Cahir 1 - 1 Villa.
The second half was a scrappy affair with both teams reverting to a lot of long balls and on 65 minutes Cahir scored 2nd when Villa failed to clear a corner and after four attempts, Cahir scrambled it in from a couple of yards. After this Villa just couldn't find that extra gear and Cahir saw the game out.
Very disappointing for our lads, just didn't happen on the big day and now our fate is in other hands.
TSSDL u15 Premier Cahir Park 4 - 10 Peake Villa A
Scorers: Danny Treacy (1) Liam McCormack (3) Alex Garcia-Diaz (2) Killian Rafter (1) Cathal McElgunn (1) Tom Reilly (1) Callaum Blakebourough (1)
Villa travelled to play Cahir Park on their astro field without the services of Lorcan Cummins (injured) and Darragh Stakelum (sick). Josh Coady was called up from the u14 squad as cover in goals and gave a sterling display throughout the game between the posts. Villa opened the scoring when Shane Turner played a free kick over the top to Danny Treacy who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner with a first-time strike. Five minutes later Cahir Park equalised when Cahir played a free kick over the top which the Villa defence misjudged the bounce on the astro and the onrushing Cahir striker gave Josh no chance in the goals. Immediately from the kick-off Alex Garcia-Diaz dribbled past the Cahir midfield and defence and calmly dinked the ball over the keeper’s head to make it 2-1 Villa. Both sides continued to play attacking football and Josh was called on to make a one-v-one save with the Cahir striker. Villa were awarded a free kick on the left-hand side of the box which was taken by Liam McCormack, who hit the ball over the wall and into the bottom left corner. Ten minutes later Cahir equalised after another miss judged bounce of the ball allowed the Cahir Striker to clip the ball over the out-rushing Josh's head. Just before half-time Josh was called on again to deny the Cahir striker as he managed to get his fingertips to push the ball away from the on-rushing Cahir player. 3-2 Half-Time to Villa.

A few minutes later a ball over the top from Tony Galvin, played Cathal McElgunn through who slotted into the bottom right hand corner, 8-4. A cross from Killian from the left-hand side to the right winger was met first time by Tom Reilly, whose shot flew into the top right corner, 9-4. In the final minutes Callum Blakeborough was put through on goal to finish 10-4.
TSSDL u15 Championship Cashel Town A 3-4 Peake Villa B
Scorers: Sean Fogarty (3) Sean Gleeson (1)
The u15B Peake Villa squad travelled away to table toppers Cashel. Villa started brighter with some great passing and movement throughout the team, and were unlucky not to be ahead with some great chances created but not converted. Villa were very unlucky to find themselves 0-1 down after twenty minutes after Cashel won the ball in their own half and after a quick counter-attack found themselves winning a penalty. Corey O Brien made a brilliant save at first but was unlucky the ball deflected into the incoming forwards path which he calmly passed into the back of the net. Villa ended the first half 0-1 down.
Villa never dropped their heads and started the second half on the front foot and this finally paid off with some great play from Villa ending with Sean Fogarty scoring. Villa were now on top, with Brandon, Nathan, Jakabus and Sean causing constant threat every time they attacked. The pressure again paid off with a corner for Villa which fell to Sean Gleeson who slotted the ball past the Cashel keeper. Within the next ten minutes Villa were 3-1 up with some great play from Sean Fogarty on the right wing passing three players and passing the ball past the keeper. Cashel never gave up and scored again making the game 3-2. This game was now end to end. Villa scored again from the trio of Brandon, Nathan and Jakabus playing great attacking football with the ball ending up with Sean Fogarty again to score his hat trick. Cashel kept attacking Villa to get the equalizer but Corey O Brien was outstanding in goals with some great fingertip saves. Game finished Villa 4-3 Cashel.
Villa were always a threat with Nathan and Sean (man of the match) up front and with both jakabus and Brandon assisting down the wings. A big shout out goes to Corey O Brien & Sean Gleeson who were outstanding.
TSSDL u13 Championship League Clonmel Celtic 3-3 Peake Villa A
Scorers: Cian Cleary (1) Diarmuid Campion (1) Michael Keogh (1)
Our 13A's travelled to play Clonmel Celtic at the Clonmel Ferryhouse pitch. This top of the table clash did not disappoint. Celtic took the lead after 10 minutes before Cian Cleary equalised 5 min later. Celtic took the lead again only for Diarmaid Campion to equalise. Two mins before half-time Celtic took the lead again. 3-2 halftime. Villa controlled the 2nd half and put pressure on Clonmel but found it hard to equalise. That is, until a bit of magic by Michael Keogh from 25 yards found the net. Villa pressed hard and Cian Cleary scored again only for it to be called back for a questionable offside. Final score Clonmel Celtic 3-3 Peake Villa.
TSSDL u13 Division 1 League Peake Villa B 0-4 Bansha Celtic B
Villa entertained Bansha Celtic in this league match. We conceded a poor early goal from a corner and that set the tone for the match. Villa found it hard to get any momentum to their play and struggled all day. Bansha added 2 more goals, 1 each side of halftime and another 10 minutes before the final whistle. Over all a bad day at the office.
TSSDL u11 Games, our three u11 teams had games this weekend, with the A’s and B’s travelling to play Clonmel Celtic and our C’s played host to Moyglass United.
