TSSDL u12 Division 1 League Peake Villa u12B 6-1 Mullinahone B
Scorers: Cormac Fitzpatrick (3) James McBrearty (2) Pierce Ivors (1)
Two very different halves in this game. The first half very evenly matched, with Mullinahone taking the lead mid-way through, but Villa battled hard all half and were level at the break. Cormac Fitzpatrick finishing after a great through ball from John Broderick. 1-1. Halftime.
The second half was all Peake Villa and the lads had way too much for Mullinahone, creating chance after chance. Cormac finished with 3 goals, James McBrearty 2 and Pierce Ivors 1. John Broderick finished with 4 assists also. Too many good performances to pick a MOTM.
With a win in our last game on Saturday against Cashel Town we have a chance to finish League runners-up.
TSSDL u12 Premier League Shanbally United 1-3 Peake Villa u12A - Crowned League Champions
Scorer: Artem Izhko (3)
Villa went into this game knowing a point would be good enough to take the title. They came out strong and pressured a well organised home team who frustrated Villa with a high line. Villa broke the deadlock on 17 minutes with a great through-ball from ever consistent Eamon Groome to Artem Izhko who finished well. Shanbally immediately capitalised on ...a mistake in the Villa midfield and the Shanbally forward finished well to draw the teams level against the run of play. Villa started again and were rewarded on 29 mins with their 2nd. Tom Delaney broke down the left and forced a good save from the keeper, the rebound fell to Tom who laid it off to Artem who smashed the shot into the back of the net 2-1 half-time.
The 2nd half started the same as the 1st with Villa rotating players in and out and all playing their part in flowing attacking football. The pressure finally told when the hard working Chloe Shorley chased down a through ball and shot across the keeper who could only parry it into the path of Artem who completed his well deserved hat-trick. Villa forced save after save from the impressive home keeper and were unlucky not to score more. Final score 3-1.
Man of match goes jointly to Tom and Artem but the whole squad were amazing and throughly deserve their league title and unbeaten league season.
TSSDL u14 Championship League Peake Villa u14B 0-3 Slievenamon Celtic
TSSDL u14 Premier League Clonmel Town 1-2 Peake Villa u14A - Crowned League Champions
Scorers: Ciaran Woodlock (1) Robbie Stapleton (1)
Villa traveled down to Clonmel Wednesday night knowing a win would secure them the league title. Clonmel started the strongest playing with the wind at their backs and it took Villa around 20 minutes to get in to the game. But when they did, they started playing some good football and had their first chance which fell to Brandon... Mills who unfortunately shot high over the bar. Villa were now on the front foot and with the introduction of Corey Moore were starting to get some great joy from many runs from mid-field. A great run from Corey should have resulted in a penalty when he was taken out by the keeper but unfortunately the referee didn't see it. Halftime 0-0.
The 2nd half started as the first finished with Villa making chance after chance but unable to find the back of the Town net. Clonmel took the lead 15 minutes into the 2nd half with a sloppy goal which should have been cleared by the Villa defence. Villa kept pushing for the equaliser and created some great chances but again could not find the back of the net. The introduction of Robbie Stapleton back from long lay off through injury, had an immediate effect when he got on to the ball and put a great defense splitting pass to find Ciaran Woodlock who cooly slotted the ball past the keeper to put Villa level. Both teams were playing great football and both teams wanted to win but it was Villa that was puting the pressure on Clonmel and the goal came after some clever play by Ciaran Woodlock put Robbie in and he finished it off lovely to put villa 2-1 up with only ten minutes to go. This sent the travelling fans into a frenzy as they could sense the win was in touching distance. In fairness to the boys they just stayed playing their controlled football and when the final whistle was blown they were crowned deserved winners.
This was a great win for the boys as they went the season unbeaten and deserve to be crowned league champions after all the effort and hard work they put in all season. Man of the match on the night was Conor Wall who controlled the Villa back line all night but it was very hard to pick just one as the whole squad was outstanding and have been for the season. Special mention to all the parents who travelled tonight, was great for the players to have that support.
