Thurles Town 2 - 2 Peake Villa
Town go through on penalties 4-3.
Scorers for Villa were Dale Loughnane and Matthew Mckevitt.
Villa played the Town for the 3rd season in a row at the Dog Track. The 1st half was a very even affair with very few chanches. In the 2nd half after twenty minutes Villa took the lead with a fine drive from Dale Loughnane. Town equalised five minutes later when Christy Burke showed his strength to hold off the Villa defender and score. With fifteen minutes left Villa again took the lead when Matthew McKevitt scored his first since re-signing back to the club, from a close range header. Villa then failed to deal with a free into the box and Foggy Fogarty was on head to head home Town's equaliser. Full Time 2-2 and Town go through after winning the penalty shoot-out 4-3.
The Villa management will be happy with their squads performance after just 2 weeks into pre-season training. Town's performance had the benefit of their game-time already played with their league well under way. Villa also had Alan Ryan make his Peake Villa debut and he demonstrated that he will be a great addition to the squad with an outstanding performance.
Villa wish Thurles Town the best of luck in the next round and in their league campaign.
