TSDL Premier Division League Peake Villa Junior A 1-0 Vee Rovers
Scorer: Stephen (Pippy) Carroll (1)
The Peake Villa A team entertained Vee Rovers in the league on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Both these teams went into this game unbeaten in the League. Villa the home team started the quickest, but it was Vee who had the first chance of the game to score only for a great clearance off the line from Maris Baltins from a Vee corner in the 4th minute. Villa were awarded a free kick in the 14th minute which was taken by Pippy Carroll and his shot hit the cross bar. Villa came close again in the 25th minute when a cross from Alan Leahy was knocked down by Carroll to the foot of O Sullivan whose shot just went wide of the post. Six minutes later in the 31st minute O Sullivan again came close when he hit the post from a Tommy Teer cross. The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when a free kick for Vee was cleared by Alan Leahy into the path of Pippy Carroll who ran at the Vee defence and he unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner. The Vee keeper could do nothing about it such was the quality of the strike. Villa could have gone 2-0 ahead when Mikey Wade's cross was met by Darren McGuire whose shot went just over the bar. 1-0 Half Time.
The second half was very stop-start affair with Villa controlling the game but couldn't find the elusive 2nd despite having some great chances. A good win for the boys against a good organised Vee Rovers side. Full Time 1-0.
TSDL First Division League Two Mile Borris 4-0 Peake Villa Junior B
Villa travelled to their neighbors today missing a couple of regulars but still a strong squad looking to keep winning run going. Borris started the stronger and were a lot more physical and winning the 50-50 balls but no real clear chances until a mistake in the Villa back line on the half hour mark allowed the hosts to go 1-0 up. The first half continued in same way and despite a goal disallowed for offside Villa never really tested the home goalkeeper despite a couple of half chances. Halftime 1-0 Borris.
The second half Villa started well and came more into the game and the hosts had a couple of close calls but poor finishing from Villa let them off the hook. Borris went 2-0 when Villa lost the ball in midfield and were punished. From this point Villa’s heads dropped totally and despite a number of substitutions never got back into the game and it was all Borris, who added 2 more goals near the end as Villa just wanted the final whistle.
A fully deserved win for Borris today as Villa were outplayed and out fought on a day to forget and Villa must regroup and move on to the next game.
FAI u18 Girls National Cup Peake Villa 1 - 4 Killenaule / Moyglass
Scorer: Chloe Cummins (1)
This was a tough draw for Peake Villa u18 girl's in this first round draw v Killenaule / Moyglass as they prepare and adapt to this new age group and it proved hard for us in the first half conceding 3 goals. Killenaule scored 2 great goals and deserved their lead going into the 2nd half. But this Peake Villa Girls u18 squad are a team that never give up and put in a great performance in the 2nd half to fight back. Chloe Cummins scored a fantastic goal to reduce the lead and Villa had a few more opportunities but failed to convert. Killenaule showed their strength and scored once more to advance with a 4-1 win.

U12A SFAI Cup Clonmel Town 0-2 Peake Villa
Scorer: Liam Gleeson x 2
This was the first game of the season for the u12A squad, who travelled to Clonmel to take on Clonmel Town A in the u12A SFAI Cup 2nd round. At u10 and u11 as both sets of players were developing there has been very little between the two sides and today was no different. Villa started the game very well and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Darragh Chute was fouled just outside the 6-yard box. Clonmel striker Kevin, was denied a certain goal when a well taken volley was excellently saved by Ronan O'Dwyer the Villa keeper. A few minutes later Clonmel were denied by the goal-post when Ronan got his fingers to the shot and deflected the goal bound shot onto the upright. For the middle period of the 1st half Clonmel were putting all the pressure on the Villa mid-field and the back three. But Villa's Bill Fogarty, Colm Hickey, Lucy Purcell and Cian O'Dwyer were solid in defence and put in very good tackles and interceptions to keep the Clonmel strikers scoreless. Darragh Chute, Conor Carroll and Liam Gleeson all had chances with good shots on the Clonmel goal. Darragh came closest when his shot from outside the box beat the keeper but hit the post. Tom Daly saved a almost certain goal with a superb back-heel to stop the ball from crossing the Villa goal line with the keeper beaten. From the resulting break, Tom was just off target with a great first-time shot that skimmed over the bar. Chloe Shorley, Alex Coppinger, Lorcan Delaney and Tom Daly all played their part in the middle of the field. Just before the half-time whistle Chloe had a well taken shot excellently saved by the Town keeper. Half-Time 0-0.
Villa made a minor formation change at half time and Villa had the stronger first 15 minutes of the second half. Conor Carroll just missed with a excellent header from a Darragh Chute corner. Villa finally broke the deadlock when from a Clonmel attack, Ronan released the ball quickly to Bill who passed to Liam on the right wing, who crossed to Chloe in the centre, who crossed quickly to Alex on the left wing who spotted Liam running into the box and Liam slotted home to make it 1-0 to Villa. For the next ten minutes Clonmel threw everything they could at Villa but on the day were blocked by the Villa keeper Ronan O'Dwyer who had a man of the match performance to deny Clonmel their score and he was very well assisted by the Villa defensive unit who kept their concentration and made their tackles count. Villa's second goal came just before the final whistle, when Tom Daly intercepted the ball in his own half, passed to Chloe in the centre, who played an excellent one-two with Darragh, to take the ball down the right side, Chloe then crossed the ball to Alex who controlled the ball with a deft flick and calmly passed to Liam Gleeson in the 6-yard box, who jinked passed the outrushing defender and side footed the ball into the net passed the Town keeper. Final score 2-0 to Villa.
This was an excellent display by both squads that was watched by a large crowd of spectators, who sportingly clapped and encouraged the skills on show by all the players for the 60 minutes of a very entertaining match.
