Munster Junior Cup First Round Glengoole United 1-3 Peake Villa
Scorers: Kieren Hennessy (2) Mikey Wade (1)
Our Junior A team were on the road this morning early travelling to Glengoole in Round 1 of the Munster Junior Cup. Villa started brightly and went ahead in the 5th minute when Sean Wade split the Glengoole defence and Kieren Hennessy was on hand to calmly score in the bottom corner. Wade nearly made it 2-0 in the 14th minute when he headed just wide from a Villa corner. Villa keeper Willie Tierney hadn't much to do in the first half but he made a great save from the Glengoole striker in the 39th minute. Villa had another great chance just before the half time whistle when Hennessy's turn and shot was well saved. Half Time 0-1 to Villa.
Villa were again quick out of the blocks in the 2nd half and were rewarded in the 49th minute when Sean Wade won a header in the middle of the field that fell to Pippy Carroll who squared the ball to Hennesy who got his second to make it 2-0 to the visitors. Villa went 3-0 ahead when Darren McGuire found Mikey Wade in the box and he made no mistake scoring. Glengoole got one back in the 74th minute from the penalty spot to make it 3-1. Villa saw out the game with ease after this and go into the 2nd round. Some good performances today all over the pitch. Full time Glengoole 1 - 3 Peake Villa (A).

Match Report TSDL Youths League
Burncourt/Vee Rovers 1-2 Peake Villa
Scorers: Cian Stakelum (1) Jordan Fahy (1)
Villa travelled to Burncourt today to a side on a roll with back to back wins in a tough league. The game started as it would go on for most of the game. It was a hard-fought battle in the middle of the field with not too many chances in the 1st half except after 25 minutes when Rovers played a long ball over Villa's defence leaving the striker clear on goal but Dillon Maher got back to make a last ditch tackle which went wrong and resulted in a penalty to Rovers. To Villa's relief Stephen Donovan produced an excellent save from the spot kick. After that let-off Villa played some nice football but created limited chances, half time Burncourt/Vee 0-0 Peake Villa.
Villa started to take control of the game in the 2nd half, playing lovely football but it was Rovers who broke the deadlock when a free from their own half was met with a spectacular bicycle kick from 20 yards out into the top corner. Villa showed great heart and responded with greater effort to take the game to Rovers. Villa got their deserved reward for their improved efforts when a Jack Casey free kick was headed back across the goal by Dillon Maher to find Cian Stakelum who nodded in to make the scoring 1-1. Villa pushed on creating two clear chances with Kevin Patan only to be denied by the Rovers keeper. With 10 minutes left Villa again broke through and Patan was 1 on 1, but the Rovers keeper expertly saved but the ball rebounded to Jack Casey who coolly sidestepped the defender and slide the ball to Jordan Fahey who rattled the roof of the net from 12 yards. Villa comfortably saw out the last 10 minutes. This was a must win game for Villa and the performance fully deserved the final result of 2-1 to Villa. Villa had Man of the match performances from Shane Turner and Jack Casey.
SFAI National Cup U15 Peake Villa 1-5 Shamrock Rovers (Wexford)
Scorer: Brandon Mills (1)
This is the sign of times to come when unfortunately players had to decide which sport to play on the day. Villa were unlucky that the delayed u16 County Semi-Final was fixed for the same time as the SFAI National Cup first round. This resulted in Villa taking the field with a very understrength team supplemented with u14 players who answered the call to play against Shamrock Rovers from Wexford.
The game started well for Villa and they had the visitors under pressure for the first 15 minutes of play but were not able to convert their scoring opportunities. Rovers broke from defence quickly and scored on the break to make it 1-0. Villa continued to play very good passing football, but their scoring boots were left at home on the day. Rovers intercepted a pass in the middle of the field and caught the Villa defence out with an excellent through ball for Rovers to score their second. This rattled the Villa players and for the next five minutes were at sixes and sevens and just before half-time Rovers scored their third to make it 3-0.
In the second half the Villa lads did their best to get back in the game, but it was always going to be a mountain to climb. Rovers scored two more and Villa got their only score of the day courtesy of Brandon Mills. Man of the match was Robbie Stapleton. We wish Shamrock Rovers the very best of luck in the next round.
SFAI National Cup U13 New Oak Boys (Carlow) 0-8 Peake Villa
Scorers: Eamon Groome (3) Tom Delaney (2) Artem Izhko (2) Finn Jones (1)
Villa travelled to Carlow to face a determined home team. Villa started quickly and were 1 up after 2 minutes through Eamon Groome. Chloe Shorley the Villa keeper was called into early action from a long through ball which took a hop. She pushed the play wide and the defence recovered. Tom Delaney scored the 2nd on 20 minutes and a 3rd came on 24 mins through Artem Izhko. 3-0 to Villa at half-time.
Villa again started well and were 4 up through Tom Delaney's second goal after 36 minutes. A 5th came from Eamon Groome on 40 minutes. Finn Jones scored a well deserved goal to make it 6 on 45 minutes. Eamon Groome completed his excellent hat-trick on 50 minutes and Artem completed the Villa scoring on 54 minutes.
This was a super squad performance from all the players. Special mention to Chloe Shorley who played in goal and then came outfield in the second half to set up chances and have a goal unluckily ruled out. Our thanks to Jack for playing out of position and taking over the gloves and John for playing all over the pitch. Well done to this young squad who were playing their first 11v11 competitive match of the season.
