TSDL Premier League Junior A 4-1 Tipperary Town
Scorers: Kieran Hennessy (2) James O'Sullivan (1) Tommy Teer (1)
A lovely Sunny afternoon for this Premier League game which didn't start well for the home side finding themselves 1-0 down in the 3rd minute when Vinny Godfrey scored for Tipperary Town. Villa had to up the ante straight away and started to get on top all over the pitch. In the 10th minute Darren McGuire unleashed a great strike but Tipp Town's goalie made a great save. Villa got back level on the 30th minute when Kieren Hennesy was on hand at the back post to nod in from a Villa corner. Two minutes later Mikey Wade found himself one on one with the Tipp Town Goalie but his shot was saved. 1-1 HT.
Villa took the lead in the 49th minute when great play by Hennesy on the wing crossed to James O'Sullivan who found the bottom corner with a neat finish. Villa went 3-1 ahead when substitue Dale Loughnane crossed and Tommy Teer did well with a smart turn and his left footed shot found the top corner. Villa secured all 3 points in the 85th minute when Maris Baltins found Kieren Hennesy who got his 2nd of the day to make it 4-1. A good result for the boy's who entertain Holycross next weekend at home in the FAI Junior Cup Round 3.
TSDL Shield Division 1 Semi-Final Two Mile Borris 2-1 Peake Villa Junior B
Scorer: Kevin Croke (1)
Villa travelled missing a few regulars for various reasons but started the game brightly and the exchanges were even enough for first twenty minutes, with not much goalmouth action. Stevie Fewer and Mathew Fogarty were having their fair share of possession in midfield but Villa were unable to create any chances up front. A few long balls into the Villa box were deal...t with by the Villa defence, in particular Darren Connor and Kevin Croke and Anto McKelvey in the Villa goal. Half time 0-0.
The second half started in same vain as both teams cancelled each other out in midfield, until a wild arm from hosts defender when contesting call in air with Eoin Dwyer resulted in straight red card for defender, but Villa also had to substitute Eoin Dwyer as a result of a broken nose from the incident. Villa now took game to the hosts and dominated the game for next 10-15 mins with Mark Lennon hitting the crossbar from a free kick, with the keeper well beaten. A Darragh Byrne effort hitting the bottom of post and rebounding into the hands of the home keeper. Villa had more chances to score but could not take advantage with poor finishing and decision making letting the hosts off the hook. From a Villa attack the hosts broke and their centre forward went past 2-3 players before finishing to the top corner, a very poor goal to concede. Villa now pushed for an eqaualiser and when about to start another attack a mistake in defence proved costly allowing the hosts in 1 on 1 to make it 2-0, which was a killer blow for Villa.
The referee played 8 minutes of injury time and make shift centre forward Kevin Croke finished to the net to set up a frantic last few minutes but Villa could not find an equalizer and the game ended 2-1 to Borris. It was rough justice on the Villa squad who put in a huge effort all over, but just poor finishing and bad luck mean Borris advance to the final. Best on the day for Villa were Kevin Croke, Mark Lennon and Darragh Byrne. We wish Two-Mile Borris the best of luck in the Division 1 Shield Final.
WFAI Girls u18 National Cup 2nd Round - Askeaton (Limerick) 3-0 Peake Villa
Our National Cup run comes to an end for the u18s girl's, but not without an incredible performance playing another away game in Askeaton Limerick and Villa having only 11 players. Both teams started evenly with each defence holding tight and chances were few. Sophie pulled off a great save from a free kick and our back four led by Captain Amy Cummins held firm, Askeaton scored from an unusual situation... in which the referee didn't support Villa to disallow the goal, the goal stood so 1-0 to Askeaton. Villa controlled the last 15 minutes of the half and created a few chances but Askeaton held out, to make the half time score Villa one down.
In the 2nd half Villa started well creating chances and Ellie and Eva were so unlucky not to equalise, then against the run of play Askeaton were awarded a crazy free kick on the edge of the box and they scored from this free kick. Villa's keeper then got injured from a brave save and had to go off. Villa then defended hard with only 10 players, impressively our injured keeper came back on and Villa with nothing to lose pressed and created close opportunities but Askeatons keeper did well to prevent a goal. Askeaton then broke to score again to finish this tie with a 3-0 win to Askeaton. Players of the Match Sophie, Amy, Saoirse, Rebecca, Latisha, Brooke, Kathy, Emma, Chloe, Eva, Ellie..all equally impressive.

TSSDL u16 Premier League Cahir Park 2-1 Peake Villa A
Scorer: Tony Galvin (1)
The 16A team made the journey down to Cahir on a wet and windy Saturday morning. Missing a number of key squad players the boys started brightly with good work from Calum Cleary and Calum Blakeborough creating a chance for Brandon Mills but the keeper saved. Cahir Park took the lead after twenty five minutes when a long ball beat our defence and was well converted giving our stand in goalkeeper for the day G...avin Shaughnessy no chance. Villa could have been level before half time with an exquisite ball from Niall Dunne landing on the head of Sean Condron but his header unfortunately flew just wide.
Villa started the second half on fire with Danny Treacy and Scott Brennan getting a foothold in midfield and the introduction of Corey Moore causing the home defence all sorts of problems up front. The first with Corey Moore putting a super ball across the box but there was no Villa player there to put it into an empty net. The equaliser finally came when a ball from Tom Reilly found Corey Moore in behind the Cahir defence and he was taken down. Penalty for Villa. Up stepped Tony Galvin to calmly convert to the bottom corner. Not long after, Villa were behind again through a header from a corner from the Cahir centre half. Villa had a couple of chances equalise but it wasn't to be. Best for Villa on the day were Tony Calvin, Tom Reily and MOTM Corey Moore.
TSSDL u14 Championship League Mullinahone 1-3 Peake Villa A
Scorers: Artem Izkho (1) Eoin Carew (1) Diarmuid Campion (1)
Villa U14’s travelled to Mullinahone on Saturday for the first game of the league. In very wet conditions, Villa started the game well and dominated the first 10 minutes. They took the lead on 11 minutes when Artem Izkho coolly slotted home after very good build up play involving Paul Noonan and Nathan Loughnan-Twomey. Villa continued to play well, creating several chanc...es but failed to increase their lead due to good defending and goalkeeping by the Mullinahone team. Eoin Carew made it 2-0 to Villa after 29 minutes, when he shot home from 25 yards after a corner was cleared to him. 2-0 Half-Time.
The start of the second half saw Mullinahone get more control in the game and they reduced the deficit to 2-1, five minutes into the second half when their midfielder scored a good goal after a determined run into the Villa box. The Villa team did not let this put them off their game, and they responded well by creating several chances without scoring. Diarmuid Campion made it 3-1 to Villa in the 55 minute when he collected the ball on the edge of the Mullinahone penalty area, before skipping past two defenders and shooting past the keeper. Villa continued to play well, and despite creating several chances were unlucky not to score again. 3-1 Full-Time. A good solid performance from the entire squad in very wet, difficult conditions. A special mention to Artem Izkho, Keith Loughnane, and Conor Gleeson who stepped in at very short notice, to help out the squad after several late withdrawals.
SFAI Boys National Cup Round 3 u12A Peake Villa 0-1 Stoneyford (Kilkenny).
The Peake Villa u12A squad faced Stoneyford in the third round of the SFAI National Cup on a very wet and windy Saturday morning in Peake Villa. Stoneyford adjusted better to the slick and greasy conditions and were denied by a great reflex save by Ronan O'Dwyer in goals on the five minute mark. Villa's Liam Gleeson than had two 1 on 1 with the Stoneyford keeper, the first deflect wide off the upright and the second was blocked by the keepers out-stretched foot. A few minutes later Alex Coppinger let fly with a left foot shot that beat the keeper but hit the crossbar. Half-time 0-0.
In the second half both teams gave their all in the wet conditions but both keepers were on fire, puling off some great saves. Ten minutes into the 2nd half, Chloe Shorley again hit the crossbar with the keeper beaten with a well taken free-kick. Darragh Chute, Cillian Minogue combined to set-up Conor Carroll but his shot was well saved by the Stoneyford keeper. A few minutes from the end of the game Stoneyford scored when Villa failed to clear a corner and the Stoneyford striker hit a half-volley past the diving Ronan to make the score 1-0. Villa tried hard in the dying minutes to equalise but were made to rue their missed scoring opportunities. Full Time 1-0 to Stoneyford. We thank Stoneyford for an excellent cup-tie and wish them the best of luck in the 4th round.

Villa grew into the game and created good chances, a well taken corner by Leelan Donoghue was fisted away by the keeper with Niall Murphy seizing on the loose ball but was to be denied by a great save. TSSDL u12 Division 1 League Peake Villa C 1-2 Cashel Town B
Scorer: Bobby O'Dowd (1)
The Peake Villa under 12C team faced Cashel Towns B squad at home on a very wet Saturday morning. This was the squads first league game and you could see that the players were not used to playing together. Cashel scored two quick goals mid-way through the first half as the Villa defensive players were caught with two fast breaks. Despite this early set-back Villa settled into the game and began to play some good passing football. Jack Kennedy combined with Leanna Coppinger to setup Kristers but his shot was blocked by the Cashel keeper. A few minutes later Conor Shorley played a lovely through ball to Bobby O'Dowd whose shot was straight at the keeper. half-time 2-0 to Cashel.
In the 2nd half, Peake Villa played a lot better as a team a created a number of scoring opportunities, but failed to convert. Niall Cleary in goals then made two excellent saves to stop Cashel from going ahead by more. Just before the end Bobby O'Dowd scored a well deserved goal for the squad who had played their hearts out. Full-time 2-1. The squad has a few new additions from last year and with more game time together they will definitely secure a win.
