FAI Junior Cup 3rd Round Peake Villa Junior A 5-0 Holycross FC
Scorers: Alan Ryan (7 mins, 65 mins), Mikey Wade (22 mins), Tommy Teer (37 mins), Kieran Hennessy (77 mins)
Our A team entertained North Tipperary Premier side Holycross in the 3rd round of the FAI Junior Cup on Sunday Morning. Villa started brightly and were on the front foot from the start. Villa took the lead in the 7th minute when Alan Ryan scored from a corner. In the 9th minute Ryan nearly scored from another corner when his effort hit the crossbar. Tommy Teer had an effort well saved in the 20th minute and Teer rattled the cross bar again just a minute later. It was all Villa who were pressing high and were rewarded in the 22nd minute when Mikey Wade unleashed an unstoppable shot to the top corner. 2-0. Holycross were awarded a free kick in the 36th which struck the upright. Villa made it 3-0 in the 38th minute when Kieren Hennesy crossed and Tommy Teer scored from a fine header. Halftime 3-0 to Villa.
Villa having all but secured the tie in the 1st half played some good passing football in the 2nd half. Mikey Wade came close in the 49th minute blazing over from close range. Villa made it 4-0 in the 65th minute when a Keith Cahill corner was met by the head of Alan Ryan who made no mistake scoring. Villa made it 5-0 in the 77th minute when Mikey Wade crossed to Kieren Hennesy who finished well to the bottom corner. Full time Peake Villa 5-0 Holycross. A good performance from the whole team who are now in the hat for the 4th round.
TSDL Division 1 League Peake Villa Junior B 1-0 St. Michael's B
Scorer: Eoin Dwyer (20 mins)
Villa entertained the undefeated league leaders today looking to get back to winning ways after a couple of unlucky defeats and had a full squad to pick from. Villa started brightly and were holding their own in the midfield battle with their experienced counterparts with the returning Aidan McCormack, Liam McCucheon and Stevie Fewer winning their fair share of possession... and a couple of early corners from boot of Mark Lennon went close but well defended by the visitors defence. The visitors were playing some neat football going forward but super defending from Darren Connor and Matthew Fogarty kept them at bay. In the 20th minute a superb delivery from a corner by Mark Lennon was heading expertly to the net by Eoin Dwyer to put Villa 1-0 up. Villa kept up the super work rate all over with Evan Mccormack and Kevin Croke in particular putting in great work to see out the first half with the lead intact.
In the second half Michael's began to push forward for the equaliser but the Villa defence was strong with Matthew Fogarty and Cormac Lanigan superb. Darragh Byrne began to get a lot of ball on the left and was causing their defence all sorts of problems and the introduction of youth players Jack Ryan Casey and Kevin Patan worked superb to keep the visitors at bay. Darragh Byrne was unlucky when through 1 on 1 with their keeper, who had a good game game pulling off some decent saves to keep it 1-0. Villa dug deep all over the pitch to see out the remainder of the match and a fully deserved win for the lads for their efforts. Best on the day were Matthew Fogarty, Cormac Lanigan and substitute Darragh Byrne, but man of the match on the day was Kevin Croke.

TSDL Tipperary Youths Cup 1st Round Peake Villa Youths 2-1 Cullen Lattin
Scorer: Kevin Patan (2)
Villa hosted Cullen Lattin in what would prove to be a hard fought but honest encounter. Villa started brightly but the away side took the lead on 10 minutes when Villa failed to clear on the wing and when the ball was fired back into the box, the villa defence was asleep and the Cullen striker finished from close range. To Villa's credit, the response was immediate a...nd they were level 5 minutes later when good work from Liam McCormack saw his shot saved but Kevin Patan was on hand for the rebound. Then with half time approaching some neat work ended with Jack Casey going through on goal only to be taken down in the box. Kevin Patan stepped up and cooly slotted home from 12 yards. Half time Villa 2 - 1 Cullen Lattin.
It was a good second half with momentum swinging both ways. When Kevin Patan was sent off for a second yellow card Villa had to play the last 30 minutes with 10 men. Villa had a couple of slight scares but also could have got a 3rd, but credit to the lads on the pitch as they battled to the end to book their place in the next round. Man of the match Liam McCormack.
TSSDL Boys u15 Premier League Peake Villa u15A 3-3 Clonmel Town A
Scorers: Robbie Stapleton (2) Diarmuid Campion (1)
Villa U15A’s entertained Clonmel Town Saturday morning looking to get back to winning ways after exiting the National Cup. Villa started brightly and moved the ball around quickly and sufficiently and looking very comfortable created a few half chances. It was in the 15 minute mark when Villa made the break through by moving the ball quickly in the midfield before a lovely ball was played to Robbie Stapleton who was clinical and stuck it in the top corner 1-0 Villa. Clonmel then created a few half chances but nothing was converted. Villa once again played the ball quickly through midfield and Robbie Stapleton was played through again and finished with a lovely chip into the far corner. Clonmel started to get into the game and 5 minutes before half time Town was awarded a very soft penalty which was blasted over the bar. Half time 2-0 Villa.
In the second half Clonmel started fast and created a couple of decent chances before finally scoring with a good finish 2-1. The Clonmel goal woke Villa up and within 5 minutes of conceding they got back to a 2 goal lead with good play on the edge of the box and the ball being played back to Diarmuid Campion, who scored with a quality curled effort into the top corner. As the game moved on Clonmel started to move the ball about with intent and created a number of chanches. After the Villa keeper made a great save, Clonmel scored from the resulting corner to make it 3-2. With only 10 minutes to go it was end to end stuff and Clonmel made a few quick passes and equalised with 5 minutes remaining. Villa pressed in the closing minutes and had a couple of chances to win the game late on but were unable to finish. The game finished 3-3. A very good performance by the squad against a determined Clonmel Town outfit.
TSSDL Boys u15 Championship League Peake Villa u15B 1-3 Cashel Town A
Scorer: Dylan Nevin (1)
This was always going to be a tough game with Cashel Town having only one under 15 team, so were expected to be a strong outfit. Cashel started the brighter and created some good chances but failed to find the net. As the half went on Villa came more into the game and had one or two chances themselves, but failed to convert. Then in the 20th minute a Cashel player broke ...down the left hand side, crossed the ball for their center-forward to score. Villa then started to push forward more and in the 30th minute when the ball was played out to Dylan Nevin, he took on the Cashel right-back, cut inside and shot across the keeper into the far bottom corner to equalise. Halftime 1-1.
In the second half Cashel started to take control of the game pushing Villa back and we where struggling to get out of our own half. Cashel piled on the pressure and our back line of Paul Cummins, James Mockler, Sean Leahy and Rory Fleming were magnificent, with some great last ditch defending. Cashel took the lead in the 62nd minute when from a corner the flight of the ball deceived everyone and went straight into the goal was very harsh on our lads who were doing brilliant to keep Cashel at bay. The boys never dropped their heads and could have equalised on two occasions when we hit Cashel on the break. Cashel then scored their 3rd goal 5 minutes before full time when the Cashel player hit a beautiful shot from outside the box which swerved into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance. Cashel deserved their victory, they were the better team for long periods but the boys never gave up and gave everything to the game. Best for Villa were Rory Fleming and Sean Leahy who where fantastic in defence.
TSSDL Boys u13 Premier League Peake Villa U13A 4-1 Clerihan
Scorers: Marian Condon (1) Artem Izhko (1) Conor Gleeson (1) Tom Delaney (1)
Villa came into this game looking to get back to winning ways after their national cup loss. The hangover seemed to be continuing as Clerihan took the lead in just 90 seconds from a corner which Villa had three attempts to clear. It took another ten minutes for Villa to shake off the rust but they slowly got into their stride and from a corner the impressive Missy (Marian Condon) had a shot from the edge of the box which beat the keeper but hit the post. This woke Villa up and Finn Jones was the next to test the keeper. A few minutes later Finn took on the full back, turned him and buried the ball in the net to make it 1-1. Villa kept pressing and from another attack Artem Izhko had the ball in the net, but was judged to have been offside after running between defenders. Artem then had a shot in the box blocked which the referee deemed to have been handball. He stepped up and slotted the ball home 2-1 at Halftime.
The 2nd half started with Villa looking to score more and a flurry of attacks kept the Clerihan keeper and defence busy for ten minutes without scoring. A smart move from Villa with Eoin Boyle playing a chip over the defence led to Conor Gleeson running through and calmly slotting the ball into the net 3-1. Villa continued to dominate possession and play and finally scored a fourth from the penalty spot as Artem was brought down in the box and Tom Delaney finished into the bottom corner 4-1.
A determined performance got the league campaign off to a winning start but Villa need to sharpen up for the future matches as too many chanches were squandered. Special thanks to Cian O'Dwyer & Liam Gleeson (u12 players) and to player of the match Missy, who played out of position to cover for 3 missing defenders and gave an exhibition of attacking play against the Celrihan defensive line.
TSSDL Boys u13 Division 1 League Peake Villa u13B 3-8 Clonmel Town
Scorer: Cormac Fitzpatrick (1) Jack Bowe (1) John Delaney (1)
Villa started well with Cormac Fitzpatrick scoring after 5 mins, but Town responded straight away to level it up. Villa stayed on top of the game and some good work from Jack bowe put Villa 2-1 up after twenty minutes. Again Town responded straight away to level it up with a scramble in the box. John Delaney scored with the last kick ...of the second half, finishing well from a Cormac Cahill cross. The second half went with Clonmel and they scored some great goals from distance. Full Time 8-3 to Clonmel.
