Ladies and Gentlemen it is with great sadness to inform you that the Peake Villa President Jimmy Cleary passed away this morning.
Our thoughts and prayers are with committee members daughter Marian (nee Cleary) and son-in-law John Walsh, grandson Brian Cleary (Schools Secretary), his great grand children who are players Evan McCormack, Christian, Calum and Cian Cleary, Marian Condon, Jake Tuohy, Daniel, Andy and Kieran Rossiter and Ben Moroney.
Peake Villa football club would like to pass on their condolences to all the Cleary family and his large circle of relations on the passing of the clubs president Jimmy Cleary. Jimmy was an absolute gentleman to have been associated with, his love for the club was infectious and that rubbed off so many people that have served the club in the past and present. Its not known the amount of players he encouraged and inspired with his knowledge of the game, there was never a cross word heard from Jimmy about any player or committee member. He was just one of lifes true gents, it's been a privilege to have known and worked with Jimmy to help the rise of the club from a rented field to what it is today, a facility the town of Thurles are proud of. Alas Jimmy has passed on and leaves a legacy that will be a torch for the club for generations to come. He now goes on to meet his own inspiration Mary. Thanks for all the special memories Jimmy.
