TSDL Premier League Peake Villa Junior A 2-0 Old Bridge
Scorers: Alan Ryan (1) Mikey Wade (1)
Villa entertained Old Bridge on a sunny Sunday afternoon up at the Tower Grounds. The first half was not very eventful with the Bridge defence well marshalled and limiting Villa to half chances. Kieren Hennesy and Darren McGuire came close with header's. 0-0 Half Time.
Villa kept the pressure on in the second half. While our defence was comfortable with Willie Tierney in the Villa goal a spectator for the most part, Tommy Teer and Kieren Hennesy were not getting much joy up front been well marked. The break through came from a Villa defender in the 77th minute. Alan Ryan made a great run and passed to Teer who played Ryan back in, who finished excellently to the bottom corner. 1-0 to Villa. Villa made sure of the three points when they were awarded a free kick in the 90th minute, which Mikey Wade finished to the top corner. Villa were not at their best today, but grinded out the result against an Old Bridge side that were up for it today. Full Time 2-0.
TSDL Division 1 League Peake Villa Junior B 1-2 Slieveardagh
Scorer: Liam McCucheon (1)
Villa entertained their visitors today minus a few regulars through various reasons but started brightly against their more physical opponents. The visitors were happy to play the waiting game and slow down the game at every opportunity they could to disrupt the flow of the game. A couple of early efforts from Villa came to nothing and the visitors took the lead when a strike from edge of the box gave Shane McGuire in goal no chance. Youth Jack Ryan Casey was getting a lot of close attention from their defence and won a lot of frees which Villa failed to take advantage of until just on stroke of half time at the 2nd attempt from a Mark Lennon free Liam McCucheon dispatched to the net. All square at half time.
The visitors continued to play with 11 men behind the ball and frustrated the Villa players who were finding it hard to make a break through and failed to have any clear cut chances until Davy Burke found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper but failed to capitalize and put his effort wide. Straight from this the visitors went down and scored the winner out of the blue. Villa couldn’t find an equaliser despite Dale Loughnane’s effort hitting the crossbar and nearly crossing the goal line. A very disappointing day for Villa, best on the day were Dale Loughnane, Jack Ryan Casey and Liam McCucheon.

Munster Youth Cup 1st Round Peake Villa Youths 4-1 Kilsheelan
Scorers: Liam McCormack (2) Patrick Stakelum (1) Jack Ryan Casey (1)
This cup tie took place on an awful day for football with a crazy wind blowing every which way the first half. It meant that not much was created with both teams finding it hard to cope with conditions. Midway through the half a defensive error gifted the away side the opener. Half time Villa 0-1 Kilsheelan.
The second half was a different affair with Villa adapting to conditions better allowing them to be camped in the visitors half. Patrick Stakelum got Villa level with a header from a Jack Ryan Casey corner. From then on the lads controlled the game and scored the second when a beautiful ball through from Jack found Liam McCormack, who found the roof of the net. Soon after a cross from Liam decieved the keeper via the wind to make it 3-1 to Villa. Then with 10 minutes left man of the match Jack Ryan Casey got his reward when he latched onto ball from Kevin Patan to make it 4-1. A great 2nd half performance from the boys who travel to Bansha for the 2nd round next Saturday.
TSSDL u14 Championship League Peake Villa u14B 1-3 Shanbally United A
Scorer: Cormac Kiely (1)
Villa welcomed Shanbally to the Tower Grounds today for our first match of the season. After an even first 15 minutes Villa took the lead when Dan Regan played in Cormac Kiely who finished to the roof of the net. Both teams had chances to score and eventually Shanbally scored an equaliser from some sloppy Villa defending. Half time 1 - 1.
Villa started the second half the better but were caught on the break 1-2 to Shanbally. Villa played some great football and were by far the better team for the rest of the half. Unfortunately they were unable to convert and with a little more composure in front of goal it would have lead to a different out come. Shanbally finished off the scoring with another breakaway goal. Full Time 3-1 to Shanbally. The boys were unlucky with the result and the squad played their hearts out. MOM today goes to Shane Troy.
