TSSDL Boys u12 Premier League Bansha Celtic A 1-3 Peake Villa A
Scorers: Liam Gleeson (1) Darragh Chute (1) Cillian Minogue (1)
The Villa u12A squad travelled to Bansha Saturday morning. It took the lads awhile to get used to the soft pitch and Bansha scored a well worked goal when after good play down the left side, followed by a lovely pass through the Villa defence found the unmarked forward at the back post who gave Ronan O'Dwyer no chance to score. Villa immediately responded and after some good passing play which started on the left from Darragh Chute, to Cian O'Dwyer on the wing, who played a one-two with Chloe Shorley, Cian then hit a first-time cross into the box that was latched onto by Liam Gleeson to make it 1-1. Villa were lucky not to concede a 2nd after Bansha made a fast break down the middle, but Ronan was off his line quickly to prevent the score. 10 Minutes later Alex Coppinger swept in a great corner that was picked up at the back post by Cian, who then laid it off to Darragh, who hit a superb strike from outside the box, that flew into the top right-hand corner to make 2-1 to Villa. Both sides continued to play excellent passing football with both sides failing to convert their chances. Conor Carroll turned quickly in the box after a great pass by Cillian Minogue, but his shot whizzed past the left side of the post. Evan Ryan on the right wing then combined with Liam Gleeson but his shot was saved by the Bansha keeper. Half-time 2-1.
Villa now had the advantage of playing down the hill and the lads put Bansha under considerable pressure but were unable to convert, with Chloe, Alex and Liam all having shots which went straight at the Bansha keeper. The Bansha keeper then pulled off two great saves in succession, the first when Cian hit first time from outside the box, which he denied by getting a diving hand to the ball to push it wide for a corner. The second from the corner when Cillian's shot which was heading to the bottom right-hand corner was blocked with a great dive to his left. Conor Carroll, Colm Hickey, Bill Fogarty and Darragh Chute were excellent in defence which meant that Ronan O'Dwyer in goal had very little to do in the second half. Cian O'Dwyer, Alex Coppinger, Cillian Minogue, Chloe Shorley, Evan Ryan and Liam Gleeson all combined well in mid-field and attack. Villa's third goal was a fine individual effort by Cillian, who broke from mid-field and hit a lovely left footed shot that sailed over the keeper into the top left-hand corner of the net. Villa should have scored a few more but a combination of excellent Bansha goalkeeping and not so clinical Villa finishing the final score was 3-1 to Villa.
TSSDL Boys u12 Championship League Peake Villa B 3-2 Cahir Park B
Scorers: Adam O'Driscoll (1) Ben Moore (1) Leelan Donoghue (1)
The Villa u12B squad hosted Cahir Park B at the Tower Grounds which matched two very equal sides in what was a very entertaining game. Villa scored first when Leelan Donoghue tore down the right side, cut back into the box, he then squared the ball which flew past the Cahir defender and goal keeper into the path of Adam O'Driscoll who calmly put the ball into the back of the net. Both sides played excellent football and Cahir equalised when a ball over the top from mid-field caught out our defence and was latched onto by the quick Cahir forward who scored on a 1v1 against Cormac Bannon in goals. For the remainder of the first both teams had opportunities to score but both keepers were in fine form so half-time ended 1-1.
In the second-half Villa came out determined so take control of the game but were undone by a defensive back-pass from mid-field which was intercepted and the quick Cahir forward struck again to make it 2-1 to Cahir. Villa responded almost immediately when Patrick Ryan combined with Ben Moore and James Lloyd only for James shot to whiz past the post on the wrong side. The Villa defence of Donacha Ryan, Lar Stapleton, Ciaran Murphy and Conor Davis were very solid for the rest of the game and restricted Cahir to only a few opportunities to have shots on the Villa goals. which were well saved by Cormac. The mid-field rotation of Ben Moore, Patrick Ryan, Leelan Donoghue and Dylan Cotter combined very well in the second half to create chance after chance. The rotation strikers of James Lloyd and Adam O'Driscoll had numerous shots on goal that were well saved or just off-target. Villa equalised after a good clearance from right-back Donacha Ryan found Leelan on the wing, who crossed the ball into the square, where in the resulting melee in the box, Ben Moore latched onto the ball and hit a pile-driver past the keeper to make it 2-2. Two minutes later after excellent play down the left, by Patrick, Ben and James the final pass to Leelan was excellently controlled and blasted past the Cahir keeper to make it 3-2 to Villa. Villa played out the rest of the game to secure the win.
TSSDL Boys u12 Division 1 League Moyglass United A 6-1 Peake Villa C
Scorer: Bobby O'Dowd (1)
The Villa u12C team travelled to Moyglass and as expected the Moyglass A team were way to strong against the Villa C squad. To be far to the lads Niall Cleary, Leanna Coppinger, Harry Keane, Ben Loughnane and Evan Ryan gave an outstanding display in defence to keep the score to 3-1 at half-time. The Villa goal came from some excellent play from Ben Loughnane who flicked the ball over the top for Bobby O'Dowd to run onto and hit his shot passed the outrushing keeper. Jack Kennedy, Martin Kiely, Kristers Ragozins, Conor Shorley, Bobby O'Dowd and Christopher gave their all on the day. Final score 6-1 to Moyglass.
