FAI Junior Cup 4th Round Moneygall 0-7 Peake Villa Junior A
Scorers: Tommy Teer (6 mins, 75 mins) Pippy Carroll (40 mins, 70 mins) Evan McCormack (55 mins) Darren McGuire (65 mins) Kieran Hennessy (67 mins)
The Peake Villa Junior A team made the short trip to North Tipperary to take on Moneygall FC in the FAI Junior Cup. Villa started brightly and were out of the traps quickly taking the lead in the 6th minute when Pippy Carroll split the Moneygall defence and Tommy Teer was on hand to calmly score in the bottom corner 0-1. Villa should have gone 2 up shortly after when Keith Cahill got in but his shot was well blocked by the Moneygall keeper. The game was stop start after this with not many real chances. In the 30th minute it was Moneygall who nearly equalised, but the ball went just over. In the 39th minute Pippy Carroll nearly made it 0-2 with a header but the Moneygall Keeper made a great save. The 2nd came a minute later when Carroll did score from a header to make it 0-2.
The 2nd half was all Villa and they made it 0-3 in the 55th minute when Evan McCormack scored after a goal mouth scramble. In the 65th minute Darren McGuire made it 0-4 when scoring from a header close in. It was 0-5 two minutes later when Kieran Hennessey scored with a volley to the bottom corner. Villa were on a goal frenzy during this spell and made it 0-6 In the 70th minute when a great cross from Maris Baltins was met by the head of Pippy Carroll who scored. They finished off the scoring in the 73rd minute when Tommy Teer broke through and made it 0-7. This was a good team performance with some good displays. Special mention to Liam McCormack who made his 1st team debut coming on in the 75th minute. Great to see first team manager James O Sullivan recognising the young talent coming through the school boys. The club would like to thank Moneygall for their hospitality and refreshments after the game.
TSDL Paddy Purtil Cup 2nd Round Peake Villa Junior B 2-0 Galbally United
Scorers: Darren O'Connor (1) Adam Garrett (1)
Villa entertained the visitors today on a lovely Sunday morning in perfect conditions for football. Villa started brightly and controlled the game from the start with the visitors playing a very defensive game. Villa went ahead in the 5th minute when a superb delivery from a corner from Mark Lennon was headed to the bottom corner by Darren Connor. Villa continued to dominate and had efforts from Adam Garrett and Eoin Dwyer saved by the visitor’s keeper. Stevie Fewer was controlling the midfield with Darragh Byrne and Dale Loughnane getting a lot of possession with the visitors unable to contain the Villa pressure. A number of efforts from Villa failed to test the visitor’s keeper and saw out the remainder of the half at 1-0 to Villa.
The second half continued in the same way and Kevin Croke and Darren Connor dealing with the rare attack from visitors with Shane McGuire in the Villa goal a spectator for long spells of the game. Darragh Byrne was having a superb game and continued to torment the Galbally defence and with Cormac Lanigan was making some great runs down the right wing but the final ball failed to cause any trouble to defence. In the 72nd minute a long ball from Darren Connor out of defence found its way to Adam Garrett who was trough one on one with keeper and he coolly lobbed him to make it 2-0. Villa had a few more chances through Seanie Butler, Eoin Dwyer and Matthew Fogarty but failed to add to their tally. A scrappy finish to the game and a comfortable win in the end as Villa moves on to the quarter final of cup. Best on the day for Villa were Seanie Butler, Dale Loughnane, Cormac Lanigan and man of match Darragh Byrne . Special mention to youth Jordan Fahy who came on as a late substitute to make his junior debut.

TSDL Youths Division 1 League Peake Villa 2-5 Two Mile Borris
Scorers: Jordan Fahey (1) Kieran Costello (1)
Villa played this must win league game with a depleted squad and found it hard to get going in the first half with not much created either end. On the half hour Borris took the lead when Villa failed to clear a corner and the ball was scrambled into the net. Villa played some excellent ball for the remainder of the half creating 2 good chances made down the left side but couldn’t put them away. Half time Villa 0 – 1 Borris. The second half was a lot more open and again Villa didn’t start well looking at sea at times and Borris took advantage getting a second. The visitors were now in full control adding 2 more, one of which was an own goal. Then finally Villa came to life when Jordan Fahey got one back. Unfortunately, another own goal put Borris 5-1 up. Kieran Costelloe scored a consolation goal for Villa in what was a bitterly disappointing day for the lads who just never played their best football on the day.
TSSDL Boys u15 Premier League Peake Villa u15A 0-1 Cahir Park A
Peake Villa played host to Cahir Park in a league game this Saturday. With villa missing 6 regulars and having just the bare 11 to play, we felt this was going to be a very tough day at the office, however this wasn't the case. Playing with a new formation and a couple of u14's, Villa dominated this game from start to finish and only for the Cahir Park goalkeeper’s heroics in the goals, Villa should have won this game. Throughout the game Villa saw chance after chance go a begging from nearly every player on the pitch with Paul Noonan hitting the post. Of course, as in allot of games like this, you always risk losing if you don't take your chances. Cahir had 2 chances of note, both in the 2nd half, one from open play with the Villa keeper Corey pulling off a good save. The 2nd chance was from a free kick some 25 yards out. When the player took the direct free it looked harmless, but it was misjudged by the Villa keeper and ended up in the bottom corner. A bit of bad luck for Villa who were by far the better team throughout the game. With only 5 minutes left, Villa through all they had at Cahir but could not get the equaliser. Well done to Cahir to keep battling to hold out for the win. Super performance from the Villa boys who will learn allot from a game like this. Best on the day were, Darragh, Brandon and Josh. Peake Villa would like to wish Aidan Butler a speedy recovery from what looked like a nasty hip injury sustained in the last minute.
TSSDL Boys u15 Championship League Peake Villa u15B 0-5 St. Kevin's A
Peake Villa welcomed a very strong St. Kevin’s U15A team to the Tower Grounds, so we knew this was going to be a tough game. St. Kevin’s started well and only for some great defending could have taken an early lead. Kevin’s did get in behind the Villa defence, but John Phelan in the Villa goal kept them at bay with some outstanding saves. Kevin’s finally made the break-through in the 20 minutes with some quick passing put through their forward who shot into the bottom left hand corner. Villa had one or two half chances but no more than that. Kevin’s where pushing forward looking for a second goal but where stopped on numerous occasions with some excellent defending from our boys. Villa finally did concede a second with a shot from the edge of the box giving the keeper no chance. Half time 2-0.
The second half was more of the same, with Kevin’s having most of the ball and pushing Villa back, but with John Phelan in goals making some excellent saves and our back line defending brilliantly we kept Kevin’s out. With our boys tiring and Kevin’s now attacking at will they finally got their third. But Villa kept going and never once dropped their heads and could have scored themselves when Michael Ryan Casey was put through but took too long to get his shot away and the defender cleared. St Kevin’s scored twice more before the final whistle. It could have been a bigger score line, but these boys kept going to the very end and gave everything and are improving all the time.

TSSDL Boys u13 Division 1 League Peake Villa u13B 7-1 Clerihan B
Scorers: Cormac Fitzpatrick (3) Pierce Ivors (2) Jack Bowe (1) Cormac Cahill (1)
Great team performance all round today, an early double from Cormac Fitzpatrick and a Pierce Ivors goal had Villa 3 nil up after 20 minutes. Sean Treacy with all 3 assists. Villa came out strong again after half time and Cormac completed his hat trick, followed by goals from Pierce Ivors, Jack Bowe and goal of the game from Cormac Cahill. Great performance all over and a super result for the lads who were beaten by this team only last month.
