Munster Junior Cup 2nd Round Peake Villa Junior A 2-1 Slieveardagh United
Scorers: Kieran Hennessy (1) Matthew Fogarty (1)
This 2nd round tie was played in good conditions Sunday afternoon. Villa unfortunately were missing some regulars, but Villa started brightly playing some good passing football with Pippy Carroll and Tommy Teer coming close in the early exchanges. Villa took the lead in the 10th minute when Kieren Hennesy put the home side ahead after his shot was initially saved but he made no mistake with his 2nd attempt. Villa went looking for another goal but were finding it hard to break down a resolute Slieveardagh defence and it was the visitors who got a goal back in the 34th minute. In a rare attack that ended in Slieveardagh been awarded a penalty which was calmly put away. Half Time 1-1.
The second half it was all Villa but getting behind the Slieveardagh defence wasn't easy and when Villa did they found the visiting Goal keeper in fine form. Villa finally got the goal they were looking for in the 84th minute when from a Mikey Wade corner the ball broke to Matthew Fogarty who was on hand to tap it in. A hard fought win with the Visitors defending galantly. Full-Time 2-1 to Villa.
Our Junior A team now turn their attention to the FAI Junior Cup where they will play Carrig Celtic of the Limerick Desmond League at home next Sunday.
TSDL Division 1 League Peake Villa Junior B 2-0 Wilderness Rovers
Scorer: Adam Garrett (2)
Villa lined out at home this morning against Wilderness short a few regulars, but still with a strong panel of 14. Villa started brightly and had the lion's share of possession. The opening goal was created by a good pass from the returning Davey Mahoney on 17 minutes to Adam Garrett who finished well. After this villa created two or three more chances, most notable of which was Darren O'Connnors miss from 3 yards out where it ballooned over the bar. Villa were reduced to 10 men on 42 minutes after Davy Mahoney received a second yellow card. Half-time 1-0 to Villa.
In the second half Wilderness tried to find a foothold but Villa battled well and still mostly controlled the game restricting Wilderness to a couple of speculative shots from long range. Villa scored a second on 89 minutes when Darragh Byrne put through Adam Garrett for his second of the day, who finished with composure. Final score 2-0 to Villa. Best on the day where Adam Garett, Darragh Byrne and Darren O'Connor, with man of the match performance going to Eoin O'Dwyer.

TSDL Youths Division 1 League Peake Villa 1-1 Burncourt / Vee
Scorer: Jordan Fahey (1)
Villa hosted Burncourt in a vital clash today and the home side started brightly playing some great football. The strike partnership between Liam McCormack and Jordan Fahey created all sorts of problems for the visitor's defence but just failing on a number of occasions to score against what would prove to be a top keeper for the vistors. Villa were caught with a sucker-punch 5 minutes before half time when a fine cross was a met with an equally fine header to put the away side 1 up, which was very much against the run of play. Half-time Villa 0-1 Burncourt.
The start of the second half saw the visitors have their best spell with 5 consecutive corners but Villa's defence marshalled by outstanding on the day Dillon Maher held firm. Villa's excellent midfield duo of Kieran Costelloe and Tony Galvin started to find gaps in what was a very well organised Burncourt outfit, the 2 lads had licence to create with Jack Kelly screening any counter attack. Time after time Villa linked up so well just to be denied by the excellent away keeper. With 15 minutes remaining great work from Kieran Costelloe found Jordan Fahey on edge of the box and he expertly checked inside 2 defenders and finally beat the last line of defence with a great finish 1-1. An avalanche of chances followed for the home side but just couldnt get the all important winner. Full time 1-1. Special mention to Liam McCormack who gave a masterclass in skill and intelligence showing exactly why he is the brightest talent coming through the ranks. Terrific team display even if the result was not the one desired.
TSSDL Boys u16 Premier League Peake Villa u16A 2-1 St. Kevin's A
Scorer: Liam McCormack (2)
The u16A team took on St. Kevin's in what was a close local derby. Villa started the brighter of the two sides and were unlucky not to go ahead with Sean Fogarty and Callum Cleary having good chances. Tony Galvin and Sean Condron were dominating the middle of the park and the back three of Danny Treacy, Shane Turner and Tristan Loughman-Twomey were standing firm to any chances that came the visitors way. The best chance of the half was to fall to Brandon Mills but he was unlucky to hit the bar after an outstanding ball from Liam McCormack. We were on the back foot for the end of the half and a couple of great saves from stand in goalkeeper Gavin Shaughnessy and a Shane Turner goal line clearance ensured it would stay a tie at the break.
After ten minutes of the second half we were one down after a free header in the box from a free-kick gave the keeper no chance. The lads didn't let their heads drop and were level after Liam McCormack found some space in the box and buried it under the keeper. With 10 minutes to go some Liam got on the end of a ball from Tony and again rattled the Kevin's net. Every man who took the field for Villa gave it their all but special mention for Man of the match Tony Galvin.
TSSDL Boys u14 Championship League St. Michael's A 2-3 Peake Villa u14A
Scorers: Artem Izhko (2) Eamon Groome (1)
Villa’s U14 A team travelled to Cooke Park, on Saturday morning last to play St Michaels. Both teams started brightly playing some good football. St Michaels took the lead after 5 mins, when their centre half glanced home a header from a corner. Villa responded by going on the attack straight from the kick off. A sustained period of pressure saw the score levelled on 8 minutes, when Michael Kehoe, found Artem Izkho in the penalty box, with a clever pass, and Artem coolly slotted the ball passed the keeper to level the scores. The game went end to end for the next ten minutes and St Michaels nearly regained the lead when a long range shot hit the crossbar. Villa then took control of the game, with Tom Delaney especially prominent in midfield. Efforts from Mikie Lawlor, Eamon Groome and Artem Izkho just missed the target, but Villa took the lead on 21 minutes, when Artem very coolly chipped the keeper from twenty yards, after his initial shot was blocked by a defender. 2-1 to Villa at half time.
The second half started with St Michaels taking control, and putting the Villa defence under pressure. The defence of Nathan Twomey,Conor Gleeson, Ronan O’Brien and Keith Loughnane were weathering the pressure well, however a break away attack by the Michaels left winger saw him score passed David Purcell after a run from the halfway line. St Michaels were now dominant, and hit the post from a corner kick, and brought two superb saves from Villa keeper, David Purcell in one on one situations. The Villa players responded very well to the Michaels pressure, and Paul Noonan started to make some very telling passes from the midfield. Eamonn Groome twice, Mikie Lawlor, Cian Cleary, Artemis Izkho, and Tomas Larkin, all went close to giving Villa the lead again but were denied by the Michael’s keeper and determined defence. It looked as if the game was going to end in a draw, but in the last minute, Michael Kehoe played a superb pass to Eamonn Groome which put Eamonn through one on one with the keeper, and Eamonn made no mistake to give Villa a well deserved win.
This was a superb performance from this group of players on their very first match together. A big thank you to the U13 players, Artem Izkho, Ronan O’Brien, Keith Loughnane, Tom Delaney, Conor Gleeson, and Eamonn Groome, who stepped up to play when a number of the U14 panel were unavailable to play. Each of these players played a huge part in this win, alongside the U14 players that were available to play. Captain Paul Noonan led by example in the midfield, very ably supported by Tom Delaney, and Artem Izkho. A very special thank you to PJ Gleeson, who stepped in at the eleventh hour to drive the players to the match, when no other transport was available.
TSSDL Boys u14 Division 1 League Cashel Town B 2-1 Peake Villa B
Scorer: Shane Troy (1)
TSSDL Boys u12 Premier League Cahir Park A 1-2 Peake Villa u12A
Scorers: Chloe Shorley (1) Cillian Minogue (1)
The Villa u12A side travelled to Cahir Park with the bonus of a near full squad as John Fitzgerald returned to action after a lengthy layoff because of a broken arm. We wish Tom Daly a speedy recovery. Villa started the game well and created a number of chances but the final finish was either well saved by the Cahir keeper or just off target. Ronan O'Dwyer was in action a few times to prevent Cahir Park from scoring. The Villa rotating defence of Bill Fogarty, Lucy Purcell, Cian O'Dwyer, Conor Carroll and Colm Hickey all played their part in keeping the Cahir forwards scoreless. In the tenth minute after good combination play from Alex Coppinger with Darragh Chute, who passed to Cillian Minogue who flipped the ball back to John Fitzgerald who played a lovely first time pass that split the Cahir defence for Chloe Shorley to run onto and she calmly placed the ball past the out-rushing keeper to score. Villa 1-0. Darragh Chute, Liam Gleeson and Alex Coppinger all came close but the Cahir keeper was in fine form. Cahir were unlucky not to capitalise on a Villa defensive error but the strikers shot on goal came back of the upright. Half-time 1-0 to Villa.
For the first 15 minutes of the second half Villa played their best football of the day, the lads created chance after chance, but were unable to get past the Cahir keeper who was in excellent form. Finally Villa got the reward for their efforts when Evan Ryan, combined with Conor Carroll to lay the ball on for Cillian Minogue, who went on a meandering run from outside the box to skip past two defenders and rifle a shot into the back of the net, 2-0 to Villa. Alex Coppinger on another day would have had a hat-trick but was unable to get past the Cahir keeper. With a few minutes left Cahir Park pulled one back, but Villa held out for a deserved 2-1 away win. Man of the match was Alex Coppinger.
TSSDL Boys u12 Championship League Peake Villa u12B 0-6 St. Michael's A
The Villa 12B squad hosted the St. Michael's A at the Tower grounds today. The result does not do justice to the effort this B squad put up against Michaels A squad. For the first twenty minutes Villa had 80% of possession and created a number of chances to score, but the final shot was blocked by an inform Michael's keeper. Then in the space of 10 minutes Michael's scored three well taken th...e goals that gave the Villa keeper Cormac Bannon no chance, this put Villa on the back foot. The Villa rotating defenders of Ben Moroney, Lar Stapleton, Conor Davis and Ciaran Murphy put in a great effort but were beaten by that little bit of extra skill. The mid-field players of Leelan Donoghue, Patrick Ryan, Donacha Ryan, Dylan Cotter, Ben Moore all played their hearts out. Up front James Lloyd and Adam O'Driscoll gave their all but could not quite get past the solid Michael's defence. 3-0 Half-time.
The second half followed the same pattern of the first half with Villa putting Michael's under pressure for fifteen minutes but could not get on the score sheet. Then for 10 minutes Michael's scored three quick goals. Full-time 6-0. Well done to the Villa B squad who gave their all against a stronger opponent - very proud of your display today.
TSSDL Boys u12 Division 1 League Peake Villa u12C 0-1 St. Michael's B
The Peake Villa u12C side must be wondering what they must do to get that elusive win. Both sides were very evenly matched in skill and in effort. It was a fantastic effort by both sets of players that had the spectators on the side-lines cheering. This was a game that gladdens the heart and gives that good feeling to coaches to see such a fantastic effort by the players. Michael's B started th...e better of the two and were unlucky not to score, but Alexander Jarbinski the u11 keeper was in fine form and pulled off some great saves. To be perfectly honest I do not know how Villa walked off this pitch without scoring a goal. The lads created loads of chances but the final touch to get the ball over the line eludes this Villa C squad. The Villa defenders of Harry Keane, Evan Ryan and Ben Loughnane were rock solid and kept the Michaels attack to shots from outside the box that were dealt with by Alexander in goals. The mid-field players of Kristers Ragozins, Martin Kiely, Cian Goggin, Cian Langton, Christopher O'Meara and Conor Shorley rotated well so that Villa continued to function across the middle of the pitch. The alternating striker duo of Bobby O'Dowd and Adam O'Driscoll combined numerous times, but the final touch lacked the killer blow to score. In the dying minutes of the game Alexander was beaten in goals when a Michael's shot was deflected by a Villa defender passed the keeper to make it 1-0 to Michaels. For the last few minutes Villa pilled on the pressure and had a number of chances to score but could not convert. Well done to both teams on an even and well contested match.
