Peake Villa entertained Limerick Desmond League side Carrig Celtic in the last 64 of the FAI Junior Cup on a very wet Sunday afternoon up at the Tower Grounds. The first 10 minutes was very stop start with the conditions very poor but it was Villa who put their stamp on the tie in the 15th minute when a Keith Cahill corner was met by the head of Aidan ...McCormack who made no mistake. Pippy Carroll came close mid-way through the half but his shot was saved well by the Carrig Keeper. Willie Tierney in the Villa goal made a great save down to his right in the 38th minute from a good header. Pippy Carroll had another shot saved in the 40th minute. 1-0 Half Time.
The sun came out for the second half and Villa were quick out of the blocks. Pippy Carroll made a run into the box and was brought down and referee John Teehan awarded a penalty. Carroll stepped up and made no mistake to make it 2-0. Villa didn't have it all their own way and Carrig had their best chance in the 67th minute from a free kick which was excellently saved by Willie Tierney. Villa made the cup tie safe when a quick free kick from Matthew Fogarty in the 85th minute was picked up by Tommy Teer who's shot went flying into the top corner to make it 3-0. Full-time 3-0 to Villa. There were some fine performances by Villa with Pippy Carroll and Alan Leahy playing very well. Man of the match on the day was Aidan McCormack in the Villa midfield who was excellent. The boy's are now in the hat for the last 32 draw.

TSSDL Boys u13 Premier League Bansha Celtic A 2-4 Peake Villa A
Scorers: Marion (Missy) Condon (1) Finn Jones (1) Chloe Shorley (1) Artem Izhko (1)
Villa travelled to last year's Championship league winners on the back of indifferent results. On a wet pitch, Villa played with the slope and within 3 minutes took the lead with a great finish from the impressive Marion (Missy) Condon with a first time volley from a corner. Bansha came back straight away with a chance from the kick off but the shot was just wide. From the goal kick the ball was switched from right to left and Finn went past the full back took another touch and buried the ball in the far corner to make it 0-2 Villa. Villa were in control and playing lovely football, however the curse of this season came back again, as a long ball was not dealt with and the Bansha forward was clipped in the box and a penalty given. The forward got up and even though Conor dived the right way the ball was in the net 1-2. Bansha started to believe and Villa seemed unnerved and from pressure and two successive corners Bansha scored from a glancing header 2-2. Villa rotated a few players and the change of personnel seemed to make a difference with Chloe Shorley joining Missy up front and they worked to unsettle the Bansha defence. Jack Bergin playing wingback won a tackle on the half way line, took on the full back went past him and got to the bye-line and pulled it back for Chloe to score another poachers goal 2-3 half-time.
A half-time team talk and Villa came out determined not to concede against the slope and for the next 30 minutes Villa found their form that served them well last season. Villa controlled the half, played flowing football and created lots of chances to score their 4th goal but were denied by the Bansha keeper. Villa had to wait until the 52nd minute to get the killer goal through the ever industrious Artem Izhko who lobbed the keeper. Full time 2-4 to Villa. A very much improved display from the whole squad who rotated in and out. All played their part with Missy playing up front and Tom Delaney driving mid-field but overall an excellent squad performance.
TSSDL Boys u13 Division 1 League Peake Villa u13B 2-1 Cashel Town B
Scorers: Pierce Ivors (1) Sean Treacy (1)
Villa played well in the first half having most of the possession but only creating a couple of half chances. Luke Murray and Gabriel Huang playing as centre halfs only gave Cashel one opportunity the whole half. Pierce Ivors, Jack Bowe and Cormac Cahill all had chances to break the deadlock but the final shot was dealt with by the Cashel keeper. Just on ...half time Villa's Juan Penuela came close to breaking the deadlock when he latched onto a Cashel clearance from a Villa corner and he hit a sweet left footed volley that was well saved by the Cashel keeper. 0-0 at half time.
Cashel took the lead 10 minutes after the break with a well worked passing move that gave Cian O'Dwyer in the Villa goal no chance. Villa responded well with Cormac Cahill and Jack Bowe looking dangerous. Carlos Navardo combined with Kyle O'Donnell who was fouled and Kyle quickly took the free kick and played Pierce through ,who finished well to make it 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. Villa had all the ball and Cashel were now under sustained pressure but the Cashel backline were giving their all to repeatly block Villa from scoring. The winner finally came in the last minute when a great through ball from captain James McBrearty was flicked past the out rushing Cashel keeper by Sean Treacy. Full time 2-1 to Villa.
This was a great game to watch and Cashel were unlucky not to salvage a draw, but Villa managed to get that all important last score. The Villa squad gave a super performance especially Luke Murray, Carlos Navardo, Cory Kennedy and Kyle O'Donnell edges MOTM.
