TSDL Tipperary Cup 2nd Round - Peake Villa B 3-0 Wilderness Rovers
Scorers: Stephen Fewer (24 Mins) Darren O'Connor (40 Mins) Adam Garrett (80 Mins)
Villa entertained Wilderness looking to continue their good run of form against them and to continue on the winning run of late. The start was very scrappy from both sides with no clear cut chances created, with most exchanges in the midfield. Gradually Villa started to get control of the game in midfield through Stevie Fewer and Evan McCormack, along with Dale Loughnane who was causing their defence problems down the left. Up front Adam Garrett came more into the game and was causing the central defence a lot of problems with a couple of efforts from Adam Garrett and Darragh Byrne failing to find the breakthrough. After good work down the left by Mark Lennon and Dale Loughnane, the ball fell to Stevie Fewer, who dispatched the ball into the net for his first goal of season. Villa now 1-0 up, pushed on again and after great work from a cleared corner from Darragh Byrne who managed keep the ball in play on end line played a 1-2 and Darren Connor was on hand to head the ball over the advancing keeper to put Villa 2 nil up after 40 minutes, the was Darren’s 4th goal this season. Half-time 2-0 to Villa.
In the second half Wilderness pushed hard to get back into the game but the Villa defence was rock solid through Cormac Lanigan, Darren O'Connor, Kevin Croke and Mark Lennon. When Wilderness managed to get a great effort on goal Shane McGuire in the Villa goal got down to his left post superbly to make the save. Villa had more space up front now and after a superb ball through the visitors defence from Eoin O'Dwyer to Adam Garrett to go through 1 on 1, but the visitors keeper saved well although both players got hurt in the collision. Villa had a few more chances on the break as the visitors went for broke and Villa were unlucky with efforts from Darragh Byrne, Dale Loughnane and Andrew Halloran all going close. Villa had another great run from Dale Loughnane, who laid off the ball to Adam Garrett, who dispatched the ball into the net to put Villa 3-0 up on 80 minutes. Full-Time 3-0.
This was another great result for Villa who now go forward into the TSDL Tipperary Cup Quarter-Finals. This was a superb defensive display from Villa back line to make it 4 clean sheets in a row. Best on day for Villa were Kevin Croke, Mark Lennon, Stevie Fewer and man of the match Dale Loughnane.
