TSDL Premier League Junior A away v Tipperary Town - MATCH POSTPONED.
TSDL Division 1 League - Cullen Lattin 2-0 Junior B
Villa travelled to Cullen Latin today minus a few regulars looking to continue recent good run. The home team were well up for this game as they continue their battle against relegation from the division. Cullen Lattin started the brightest using the strong wind at their backs to put a lot of pressure on the home defence and took the lead after Villa failed to clear a corner and were punished 1-0 Culle...n Latin. Villa thought they had equalized after a Kevin Croke strike was spilled by home keeper and Adam Garrett scored from rebound but it was blown for off side. A few minutes later Darragh Byrne had a glorious opportunity to score but unfortunately put the ball over the bar with just keeper to beat. The home team were proving more physical in the battles around the pitch and led at half time 1-0.
In the second half Villa put in an improved performance and came more into game as Cullen started to drop back defending their slender lead. Efforts from Seanie Butler, Adam Garrett and Jack Ryan Casey failed to find the target and after a bit of pressure from Villa on the home defence, Cullen broke out from defence and made it 2-0 with 15 mins left with a quick break. The home team closed out the final minutes of the game and Villa could find no way back into despite their best efforts.
Disappointing day for Villa after a great recent run but bigger and more important days to come in the cup competitions. Cullen Lattin were full value for their win on the day and deserved the 3 points. Best on day for Villa were Kevin Croke, Jack Ryan Casey and Eoin o Dwyer.
