Sunday 24th March

TSDL Clonmel Credit Union Premier League Oldbridge 2-1 Junior A

Scorer: Davy Carroll (1)

Villa got off to a bright start and had a number of chances of scoring before Oldbridge took the lead mid-way through the first half. Villa replied 10 minutes later with a great goal from Davy Carroll who hit a great strike from outside the box. Villa then found themselves down to 10 men when Andrew Hallaron was very harshly sent off.1-1 Halt-ime.

Villa still took the game to Oldbridge but couldn't find the net after several opportunities. Again Villa went a goal down after a Oldbridge corner somehow found the net. Villa tried everything to get the equalizer, alas it wasn't to be. It was a great effort by the lads. The club would like to wish Matthew Fogarty the very best of luck on his travels, he will be sadly missed.

Saturday 23rd March

TSDL Tipperary Cup 1/4 Final Junior B 2-1 Clonmel Town B
Scorers: Shane McGuire (Penalty) Jack Ryan-Casey (1)

Villa welcomed Clonmel Town to the Tower grounds on a lovely Saturday afternoon for a cup game looking to progress to semi final of the Tipperary Cup. Clonmel Town started the better and were dominant in midfield and had a couple of half chances. Villa were been frustrated up front with efforts from Eoin O'Dwyer and Kevin Patan failing to hit the target. In the 20th minute Clonmel were awarded a penalty for a foul by Darren Connor and the Villa keeper Shane McGuire, not for first time this year, saved the well struck spot kick to keep score at 0-0. The exchanges were even now as villa came a bit more into the game in midfield through Evan McCormack, Stevie Fewer and Jack Ryan Casey. Clonmel took the lead after a ball into Villa box wasn’t dealt with, 1-0 Clonmel Town. For the remaining 10 minutes of the half, Villa dominated and won numerous corners with a header from Cormac Lanigan hitting the post and Kevin Patan also going close.

In the second half Villa came out a totally different team and from the kick-off began to dominate the game with Kevin Croke, Darren Connor and Cormac Lanigan in the backline playing with confidence and were more comfortable on the ball. Darragh Byrne was linking up well with Kevin Patan down the right which was causing Clonmel all sorts of problems. After a few half chances and near misses Villa were awarded a penalty. Up stepped Villa keeper Shane McGuire to dispatch the peno into the net to make the scorline 1-1. Villa now pushed for the winner but efforts from Jack Ryan Casey, Evan McCormack, Adam Garrett and Tommy Brophy failed to beat the visitors keeper. At the other end Shane McGuire was on hand to keep out a counter attack with a good save and also got in a number of good saves to deny Clonmel a score. Villa pushed hard for the winner and in the 89th minute a cross from Evan McCormack was fisted out by the visitors keeper and the clearance fell to Eoin O'Dwyer, who calmly rolled it back accross the box to the on rushing Jack Ryan Casey, who placed it in the bottom corner. 2-1 Villa with 5 minutes of injury time to play, meant that Clonmel through caution to the wind and pressed forward to get an eqialiser. Shane McGuire again made a few great saves to deny the visitors and see out the Villa win 2-1.

A fantastic display in the second half got the boys through to the semi-final, with excellent displays on the day from all as Villa dug deep to get the win. Stevie Fewer, Jack Ryan Casey, Kevin Patan played excellently, but man of the match on the day for saving a penalty, scoring a penalty and also making some other crucial saves throughout was Villa keeper Shane McGuire.

TSSDL u15 Premier League Clerihan 1-10 Peake Villa
Scorers: Niall Dunne (1) Robbie Stapleton (4) Scott Brennan (2) Keith Crawley (1) Darragh Minogue (1) Ciaran Woodlock (1)

Peake Villa u15 played their first league game of the season away to Clerihan. From the kick-off Villa dominated this game and never allowed Clerihan to get into it. The first goal came after 6 minutes when Niall Dunne scored direct from a corner. Villa added two more before half-time, both from Robbie Stapleton. Half-time 0-3.

Villa started the 2nd half the same as the first with the majority possession of the ball. Adding a further seven goals through Robbie Stapleton 2, Scott Brennan 2, Keith Crawley 1, Darragh Minogue 1 and Ciaran Woodlock 1. Final score 10-1 to Villa. It was great to see Aidan Butler back on the field after been out for so long with the nasty injury he picked up last season. Also a big thanks to David Purcell who played in goals for the absent Corey O'Brien.

This was a super squad performance with all 16 players playing a part on the day. Man of the match on the day with his 4 goals was Robbie Stapleton.

TSSDL u13 Division 1 League Clonmel Town B 2-2 Peake Villa B
Scorers: Jack Bowe (1) James McBrearty (1)

Peake Villa began the 2019 season with a tough away game. Villa started well with Kyle and Luke dominating in midfield. Clonmel took the lead somewhat against the run of play. But Villa responsed well, with Jamie and Gabriel playing some great football from the back, and were unlucky not to be level before halftime.

The equaliser came shortly after the break, Jack Bowe with a great finish. Clonmel took the lead again but Villa pushed on again, and with 5 mins to play a great through ball from Corey was finished by James McBreaty. A great team performance from all, especially as there was only the bare 11. MOTM was Juan, who pulled off some great saves.
