u16 Girls Premier League - Cashel Town 8-0 Peake Villa u16 Girls
The Villa u16 Girls squad travelled to Dualla to play Cashel Town in our first league game of the season. Before the kick-off Villa suffered a set-back and had to play with only 10 players as six of the girls had other committments. The girls did their best from the word go and put every bit of effort in to give Cashel a game. Unfortunatley Villa were up against the Cashel side that reached the National semi-finals and it did not take long for Cashel to find their scoring range. Their first came from good play down the right side, with the ball crossed into the box for Emma Leahy to make the save but the rebound fell to the Cashel striker to make it 1-0 after 10 minutes. Cashel were using their numerical advantage and had quite a number of shots on goal that were well saved by Emma. Cashel scored their second when a Villa clearance was misskicked straight to the Cashel striker, who made no mistake and placed the ball in the top left corner to give Emma no chance in goal. Their third goal came just before half-time when good play by Cashel resulted in their third goal. Half-time 3-0.
The Villa girls tried hard to score a goal but found it difficult to break past the solid Cashel defence, who kept the supply of ball into their mid-field players and Cashel were able to score five more in the second half. This was a good never say die effort from the girls.

TSDL Division1 League - St. Michael's B 4-1 Peake Villa Junior B
Villa travelled to Tipperary Town to complete their league program despite missing few regulars and were confident of finishing league on a high note. St Michaels were quickest out of block and began to dominate midfield possession and took the lead on 4 minutes after sustained pressure. Villa started to get into the game after this and went close through Andrew Halloran and Adam Garrett but home keep...er made good saves to deny. Villa equalised in the 34th minute when Mark Lennon struck a 25 yard free to the top corner. The home team struck back straightaway, when Villa failed to deal with a corner into the box and after a mix up in defence the home team went 2-1 up and saw it out to half time.
Villa started the second half much stronger and started to match the home team for possession and effort but after a lot of chances to equalise through Kevin Patan, Adam Garrett and Darren Connor, the home team caught Villa on the counter attack and a good finish made it 3-1 giving Shane McGuire in goal no chance. It was a sucker punch for Villa and despite creating a few more chances for Villa through Darragh Byrne and Darren Connor, the home team finished the game off with a good finish at the death.
Disappointing day for Villa, with the league now complete attention turns to prepare for much bigger days ahead in the Tipperary Cup semi-final clash v St Michaels A and the Paddy Purtil cup final. Best on the day for Villa were Cormac Lanigan, Darren Conor and Darragh Byrne.
