Match Reports TSDL Week 34 and TSSDL Fixtures Week 7
Sunday 14th April
TSDL Premier League - Peake Villa Junior A 1-1 Conmel Town
Scorer: Kevin Patan (1)
Peake Villa took on Clonmel Town in the Tower grounds missing some key players, which a gave an opportunity once again to play some promising Villa youths. Villa controlled most of the first half with Liam McCutcheon and Jack Ryan Casey dominating midfield. Unfortunately they found themselves a goal down following a breakaway from Clonmel Town in which they finished well. It looked... as if it would be 1-0 at half time, only for a moment of individual brilliance from Kevin Patan. He controlled a ball 30 yards out, which he hit on the volley straight into the top corner, giving the keeper no chance. A serious goal of the season contender.
In the second half there were some half chances for both sides, but neither team could find the back of the net. Alan Ryan looked like he won it late on with a 35 yard screamer only to be denied by the upright. A 1-1 draw was a fair result on cold wet windy April Sunday afternoon. Some great performances from Villa’s Sean Wade, Darragh Byrne and Jack Ryan Casey but man of the match goes to the goal scorer Kevin Patan who now has 3 goals in 2 starts for the Junior A’s and really is looking an exciting prospect for the future.
TSSDL u18 Girls Premier League - Cahir Park 4-4 Peake Villa u16 Girls
Scorer: Chloe Cummins (4)
The Villa u18 girls travelled to Cahir with 8 players and Cahir showed great sportsmanship by playing also 8 players. This then led to a great game with the score finishing at 4-4. The first half saw Villa hold out for a nil all scoreline, with Emma Leahy pulling off some great saves and Amy Molumby, Jessica Delaney and Latisha Creamer defending superbly.
The 2nd Half Cahir took a two nil lead but great play by Brooke Slattery and Kate Weltz in midfield putting Chloe Cummins in to score twice and level the game. With 15 minutes to go Cahir score again to go ahead 3-2. On 10 minutes to go Chloe equalises to make it 3-3. With 5 minutes to go Cahir score again to make it 4-3. With 2 minutes to go, Kate plays an incredible ball through and Chloe Cummins runs onto it and finishes it with great skill to take her tally to 4 goals for the match. A fantastic performance by all Villa players but again I highlight the sportsmanship showed by Cahir.
Saturday 13th April
TSSDL u16 Boys Premier League - Peake Villa u16 1-0 Clerihan A
Scorer: Tom Reilly (1)
Cleirhan made the trip across to the tower grounds Saturday morning on a very windy morning and both teams missing a few regulars. Villa captain on the day Tony Galvin opted to play with the wind in the first half and it worked well for Villa as the lads kept loads of pressure on the Clerihan defence. Villa had the most of the chances in the first 20 minutes and finally after 25... minutes Calum Cleary played a lovely ball to Tom Reilly who placed the ball lovely into the net. For the next 20 minutes of the first half Villa had a few corners touched over the cross bar by a very in form Cleirhan keeper, Villa could have had the game put to bed only for him.
From kick off of the second-half Cleirhan came into the game more having the wind that Villa had in the first half. So it ment Villa's back four were in the game more and after not having much to do in the first half they were very sharp with Sean Condron leading the back four with an excellent display. Villa had to put in a lot of great work across the midfield, with great cover from Tony Galvin helping in defence when needed. Danny Treacy & Callum Blakeborough worked really well on the wing tracking back and in attack. Number 10 on the day, Sean Fogarty worked his socks off, he gave it everything and was very unlucky not to get himself a goal or two. Tom Reilly made it very hard for the Cleirhan back four, making some great runs. Cleirhan created some scoring chances but the Villa defence stayed strong. Cleirhan had a superb effort from 35 yard's to make it 1-1, but villa keeper Lorcan Cummins pulled off an unreal save to keep it 1-0 after the ball dipped and moved alot in the air, he managed to tip the ball over the bar, great reaction save from Lorcan. After that save, both teams had chances but couldn't get any on target. Full time 1-0 to Villa.
Villa M.O.T.M Tony Galvin, with fine efforts from Sean Condron, Danny Treacy, Tom Reilly, Lorcan Cummins and Sean Fogarty.
TSSDL u12 Boys Championship League - Peake Villa u12B 0-6 Clonmel Town B
Villa were without a number of players from this squad and had to call up three players from the u11 squad Bobby O'Dowd, Ryan Quill and Connor Donnelly to full fill the fixture. The Town B squad were much to strong for this Villa B squad. Kristers Ragozins volunteered to play in goals for the first half and he pulled off some great saves. The back three of Ciaran Murphy, Evan Ryan and Conor Da...vis were kept very busy during this game and made some very telling tackles. Our mid-field and attacking players, who rotated of Bobby O'Dowd, Ben Loughnane, Adam O'Driscoll, Conor Donnelly, Conor Shorley, Martin Kiely and Ryan Quill tried hard but were unable to get by a resolute Clonmel defence and mid-field. Town beat the Villa off-side twice to get their first two goals and then scored a third just before half-time to make it 3-0 to Town.
The second half saw no respite for the Villa lads as Town continued where they left off and scored three more with out reply. Disappointed with the player turnout but proud of the lads that played and gave their all to the final whistle. Well done boys. Our thanks to the u11 boys who helped out on the day.
Friday 12th April
TSSDL u12 Boys Premier League - Peake Villa u12A 0-1 Clonmel Town A
Villa u12A hosted Clonmel Town A in their second league match of the season and it was an excellent match that displayed the skills and commitment of both teams. Villa started quickly and a through ball from Darragh Chute to John Fitzgerald, who raced towards goal only to fire his shot just over the bar. Clonmel Town had two very good chances both both were well saved by Ronan O'Dwyer in the Villa ...goals. Both sides for the rest of the first half played non-stop passing football from end to end, with both keepers pulling off some great saves. With just a few minutes to go in the half, Town broke quickly from a corner down the left side, and young Napier from Town, hit a lovely cross across the box, that was met by an unmarked Town winger who calmly tapped the ball into the back of the net. Half-time 0-1 to Town.
The second half saw the Villa squad pile on the pressure and Town were saved by the cross-bar twice and the upright twice, but were unable to get that all important goal. Town created a number of scoring opportunities and were denied a second when Ronan pulled off an excellent save when faced with a one-on-one. On the night Villa and Town played some excellent passing football and the crowd on the side-line were well entertained.
The Villa squad of Ronan O'Dwyer, Bill Fogarty, ben Moroney, Alex Coppinger, Cillam Minogue, Colm Hickey, Darragh Chute, Cian O'Dwyer, John Fitzgerald, Conor Carroll, Thomas Daly, James Lloyd, Chloe Shorley, Niall Murphy and Liam Gleeson gave their all - well done boys.
