AET: Peake Villa Youths 2-5 Ballymackey FC
Clerihan travelled to the Tower Grounds to play Peake Villa u13A for an evenly match and entertaining game. Clerihan started the game on top with there number 6 playing great through balls in behind the left side of the Villa defense, but Conor Gleeson defended well on his side. Clerihan had some chances but the Villa defense of Conor Gleeson, Ronan OBrien, J...ack Bergin and Cormac Cahill stood firm with Jake Jordan giving great cover in midfield. Villa started to get into the game with some great play up the left hand side from Conor Gleeson and Cian ODwyer, with Finn Jones almost getting a well deserved goal for the superb play. 20 minutes into the first half the ball fell for Jake Jordan who hit a superb ball through to Finn Jones, who was causing all sorts of problems up front with Chloe Shorley. Finn crossed in a superb ball and it was met in the box by Villa's Centre back Ronan OBrien, who made no mistake to put Villa 1 up. Clerihan were awarded a penalty in the 25th minute but man of the match Ronan ODwyer, who had made numerous saves throughout the game, made a magnificent save down to his bottom left. Missy Condon picked Finn out with a great pass but it was well saved by the Clerihan keeper. Half time 1-0.
At the start of the second half Clerihan came out looking to get an equaliser with great saves from Ronan ODwyer and great defending from Ronan OBrien kept Clerihan from scoring. Clerihan hit the cross bar with a great effort from their number 6 from a free kick. Jake Jordan found space in the midfield and picked out the great run from John Broderick, he bet his defender and from the edge of the box slotted home making sure of the 3 points for Villa.
Great result for Villa u13s, best on the day Conor Gleeson, Ronan O Brien, Cian ODwyer and Finn Jones, but man of the match goes to Ronan ODwyer who made numerous saves in goal.
