TSDL Week 37 and TSSDL Week 10
Sunday 5th May
TSDL Paddy Purtil Cup Final - Peake Villa Junior B 1-0 Glengoole United
Scorer: Shane McGuire (Penalty)
Villa travelled to Cahir Park with a twenty-man strong squad on a beautiful bank holiday Sunday afternoon to face a tough Glengoole side, who were looking to complete the treble after winning both the Division 1 and Shield titles. Glengoole started the better with Villa appearing a little nervous, in particular in defence and Shane McGuire in the Villa goal had to deal with a couple of early efforts from Glengoole. Villa started to get a foot hold in the game in midfield through Stevie Fewer, Jack Ryan Casey and Darragh Byrne. Up front Eoin O'Dwyer and Adam Garrett began causing the Glengoole defence some problems, while Kevin Patan began to torment the full backs with his direct running. In the 25th minute after a Villa corner Kevin Patan was brought down in the box for a clear penalty and up stepped vice captain Shane McGuire to dispatch the ball to the net for his 4th successful penalty of the season along with having saved 3 penalty’s as well. Villa were now dominant and should have added a second through Adam Garrett and Darren Connor and also a Darragh Byrne 1 on 1 but the keeper denied him. Despite been on top Glengoole were very dangerous on the counter attack, but the back line of Cormac Lanigan, Kevin Croke, Darren Connor and Mark Lennon we’re in great form to keep them at bay. Half time 1-0 villa.
In the second half Glengoole got more into the game and had a couple of half chances but again Shane McGuire was excellent in the Villa goal and this combined with some last gasp defending from Cormac Lanigan and Kevin Croke kept Glengoole scoreless. Eoin O'Dwyer and Adam Garrett were combining well up front as Villa pushed for a second. Kevin Patan and Darren Connor had chances to add a second but were denied by the Glengoole defence. The introduction of Seanie Butler and Andrew Halloran to the Villa midfield helped the Villa defence keep the Glengoole attack at a premium. The defending from Cormac Lanigan and Mark Lennon was frustrating the Glengoole attackers who were getting no joy as the clock ticked down and a Seanie Butler effort went close to sealing the win for Villa. Despite 6 minutes of injury time the Villa defence stood firm as the referee blew the final whistle to the joy and relief of the Villa squad and supporters.
Captain Kevin Croke lifted the cup and the celebrations continued into the night in Kennedy’s of Thurles, a deserved reward for the whole squad for what has been a very successful end to the 2019 season for the Villa Junior B team. 4th place finish in Division 1, Semi final of Tipperary Cup and Paddy Purtil cup winners.
It was again a superb effort from the whole squad on the day with Stevie Fewer picking up the Paddy Purtil Cup Final man of the match award from the TSDL league. Squad: 1 Shane McGuire, 2 Cormac Lanigan, 3 Mark Lennon, 4 Kevin Croke, 5 Darren Connor, 6 Stevie Fewer, 7 Jack Ryan Casey, 8 Darragh Byrne, 9 Eoin O'Dwyer, 10 Adam Garrett, 11 Kevin Patan, Seanie Butler for Jack Ryan Casey, Tommy Brophy for Adam Garett, Andrew Halloran for Stevie Fewer, Kevin Quinn for Darragh Byrne, Tom Shorley, Jordan Fahy, Tony Galvin, Evan McCormack

TSDL Premier League - Peake Villa Junior A 0-4 St. Michael's A
The Villa Junior A team finished the season with another poor show against the TSDL league champions. An under strength Villa side were on the back foot for most of the game after Michael's scored an early goal, it was 1-0 at half-time to Michael's. With the Michael's players all fighting for a place on the FAI cup team next Saturday they went on to score 3 more in the 2nd half.
So ends Villa's season with another defeat, this is a sad end to the season that promised so much with another terrific run in the FAI and Munster Junior Cups, alas we came up short. The club would like to thank the trojan work of James Sullivan, Jody Brolin and Martin Turner, Leanne Fogarty our phiso and Padraig O'Connor (fitness) throughout the season.
The club wishes St Michael's the very best of luck for the FAI Junior Cup final against Sheriff.
TSSDL u13 Boys Premier - Peake Villa u13A 3-1 Clonmel Celtic
Scorers: Finn Jones (1) Keith Loughnane (2)
Peake Villa took on a strong Clonmel Celtic side on a sunny Saturday morning. Villa started off on top dominating possession and in doing so Villa scored after 15 minutes when John Broderick won back the ball in the midfield, played it out wide and Chloe Shorley delivering a sublime ball over the top from right back to be dispatched into the bottom corner by Finn Jones. 10 minutes later Missy Condon put the Celtic defence and goalie under pressure forcing a corner. Jake Jordan crossed the ball from the corner and it fell back nicely to Jake Jordan who put in a superb cross again to pick out Keith Loughnane, who scored from a glancing header into the far corner. Celtic picked up the pace and raised the tempo of the game bringing saves from stand in goalie Jack Bergin. Jack was tested numerous times in the first half but matched the efforts of Celtic's chances. The Villa defense in Chloe Shorley, Ronan O'Brien, Cormac Cahill and Conor Gleeson stood firm at the back and were tough to break down. Half time Villa 2-0 Celtic. Celtic dominated possession at the start of the second half and scored straight away with a superb strike from outside the box. Villa were under quiet some pressure with only having 11 players and no subs. Sean Treacy and Jake Jordan found some clever runs from the midfield to pick out Missy and Finn but Celtic defended well. John Broderick won the ball back in midfield to play in man of the match Keith Loughnane to bag his second and seal the win for Villa. Great performance from all involved today and was an excellent team effort with every player giving their all.

TSDL u15 Premier League - Peake Villa u15 9-0 Slievenamon Celtic
Scorers: Conor Wall (1), Siya Ndzingani (1) Robbie Stapleton (3) Ciaran Woodlock (3) Darragh Minogue (1)
Peake Villa welcomed newly promoted Slievenamon Celtic to the Tower Grounds on Friday evening. This was a mostly one sided affair with the visitors struggling to get out of their own half. Villa dominated the game from start to finish and should have been 2 or 3 goals ahead before finally getting the breakthrough on 10 minutes with an excellent strike from Ciaran Woodlock from outside the area. Villa's 2nd came soon afterwards from the penalty spot (Robbie Staplenton) after the Slievenamon defender had handled on the goal line. After this Villa were guilty of missing a hand-full of chances before adding a 3rd and 4th goals from Robbie Stapleton and Conor Vall before halftime. The second half started the same as the first half finished with most of the game being played in the Slievenamon half with Villa scoring 5 more goals from Siya Ndzingani, Robbie Stapleton, Ciaran Woodlock (2) and Darragh Minogue.
TSSDL Future Stars Boys u11 North Blue - Peake Villa Blue v St. Kevin's Blue
Villa welcomed St. Kevin's to their first game of the season. Villa started strong with some lovely play and great running from Jakub sent a ball in from the right and was met with the head of Darragh to put villa on the score sheet. In the second half St. Kevin's came out fast and scored after a couple of minutes to level the score. The Villa boy's played some lovely football and put Kevin's under a lot of pressure, with the Kevin's keeper pulling off some good saves to keep the scores level. Villa had Darragh running at them the whole game and Villa scored a goal to go ahead. Villa could have had a few more but were unable to get past the Kevin's keeper. This was a great opening game for the u10 Blues development squad, who despite missing a few players, the lads gave an excellent display of passing football. A good start to the season.
