The second half started with Villa on the attack and Tom Reilly’s shot was well saved by the Town keeper, who gathered quickly and launched a long kick that evaded the defense and the Clonmel striker reacted the quickest to plant the ball under the out rushing Villa keeper. 2-0 to Town. Villa tried hard to get a goal back with Tristan Loughman-Twomey, Gavin Shoughnessy, Tony Galvin, Tom Reilly and Callum Blakeborough combining to get the ball to Liam McCormack, who hit the ball first time only for the diving Town keeper to get down and tip the ball out for a corner. Villa were dealt a sucker punch when an attempted back-pass to the keeper was put into their own net. 3-0 to Town. Villa kept trying and came close when Danny Treacy was denied a goal by a last minute block by the Town no 5. Villa then conceded a fourth when from a corner, the Villa defense was caught napping and allowed a free flick-on for a goal. Final score 4-0. Clonmel Town fully deserved their win and now join Villa at the top of the table with 15 points at the half-way stage of the league.
Villa welcomed Cahir Park to the Tower Grounds to play the return of the first match in Cahir that ended in a draw. This was a very open and fast tempo game, with both teams giving their all. Cahir struck first after 5 minutes when a ball over the top was not cleared and the Cahir striker slotted past James Bourke in goal, who did manager to get a hand to it. Villa upped the tempo and created a few chances but failed to convert the final opportunities. Twenty minutes into the half, Villa equalised when after good work in mid-field by Colm Hickey on the right who passed to Lucy Purcell in the centre, who played the ball wide to Cillian Minougue on the left wing, who combined with Conor Carroll who laid it on for John Fitzgerald, who slotted the ball into the Cahir net. 1-1. Villa were caught on the break twice by Cahir Park, who scored both to make it 3-1 to Cahir at half-time.
Villa regrouped and came out all guns blazing in the second half and had chance after chance to score, but failed to convert with Conor Carrol, Tom Daly and John Fitzgerald all had shots on target, but could not get past the Cahir keeper who was in fine form. 15 minutes into the half a Conor Carroll corner was met perfectly with a header from Ben Moroney who headed back across the keeper for an excellent goal. 3-2. Tom Daly was quick to a react to a blocked clearance by James Lloyd and his first time shot beat the keeper only to rebound off the upright. Chloe Shorley, Ronan O'Grady and Alex Coppinger were holding their own in defence and a quick break by Alek resulted in Cillian winning another corner. Conor Carroll made it three assists when he placed a perfect corner-kick onto the head of Ben Moroney who scored his second goal. 3-3. Villa were then awarded a penalty for a foot block, which was well taken by John, but was well blocked by the Cahir keeper. Villa were then caught napping when pushing forward for the winner, conceded two goals to make the final score 5-3 to Cahir Park.
