TSDL Premier League Glengoole United 1-3 Peake Villa Junior A
Scorers: Ronan McGuire (1) Johnny Coleman (1) Kevin Patan (1)
Villa came away with a win which could be a vital 3 points at the end of the season. Villa and Glengoole found it hard to get any rhythm into their game in the first half and neither keepers were called on to make any decent saves. Pippy Carroll was unlucky not to score from a free kick outside the box when his shot clipped the post with the keeper beaten. Villa's midfield of Pippy Carroll, Greg Culley and Keith Cahill were putting in the yards and Villa's players in the final third of Ronan McGuire, Kevin Patan and Mikey Wade were well marshalled by a strong defence from Gelngoole United which resulted in a scoreless first half 0-0 as the back four of Darragh Byrne, Evan McCormack, Alan Leahy and Tommy Teer were a strong defensive unit that kept Glengoole at bay.
In the second half Villa upped their game and got their passing game rolling. From this much improved performance Ronan McGuire ran onto a lovely headed pass by Keith Cahill to coolly score past the Glengoole keeper. Johnny Colemen then scored the 2nd with a neat finish after his header from a great Mikey Wade cross came back off the crossbar to his feet and he made no mistake from inside the 6 yard box. Kevin Patan scored Villa's third when after some neat passing which started from Darragh Byrne in right back, who passed to Greg Culley in the middle, he laid it quickly off to Tommy Teer, who hit a first time diagonal ball across the field to Mikey Wade in the right corner, who hit first time back into the box, the ball was flicked on by Johnny into the path of Kevin Patan who slotted the ball into the back of the net. Glengoole got one back with 15 minutes left after a goal mouth scramble. Villa held out comfortably to finish out the game as 3-1 winners.
