TSDL Match Reports Week 6 Sun 29th Sep
Sunday 29th September
Scorers: Kevin Patan (1) Ronan McGuire (1)
Villa travelled to Tipperary Town looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat and started very well with lots of possession. Darragh Byrne was causing lots of problems down the right with Robert Jordan and Sean Butler dominating the midfield possession and Eoin Dwyer dominant up front. It was down the right wing after a good ball from Cormac Lanigan released Darragh Byrne, who dribbled past a number of Michael's defenders before crossing the ball across the box which was finished to the net by Kevin Patan after 16 minutes, 1-0 Villa. A second soon followed in the 20th minute when good pressure up front from Eoin Dwyer and Darragh Byrne forced a mistake in the home defence allowing Ronan McGuire to put villa 2-0 up. A couple of excellent Mark Lennon corners went close to adding to Villa's lead but were denied with excellent saves from the home keeper. Shane McGuire made an excellent save with his feet just before half time to leave Villa 2-0 at half time.
In the second half Villa started brightly again and went close again through Ronan Mcguire and Robert Jordan and the defence of Darren Connor and Kevin Croke were dealing well with some pressure from the home team. With 15 minutes left the home team got one back out off a long ball over top and they scored the equaliser with 7 minutes to go when awarded a contentious free kick was floated into the Villa box and a header on goal unfortunately bounced off a Villa players back and ended up in the net for 2-2. Both teams had late efforts to win but had to settle for share of spoils on the day . An entertaining hard tough game from both teams but Villa will be slightly disappointed to only get draw after been 2-0 up. Best on day for Villa were Darren Connor, Darragh Byrne, Robert Jordan and man of match Seanie Butler.
