TSSDL u16 Premier League Play-Off - Clonmel Town 4-3 Peake Villa u16
Scorers: Siya Ndzganini (1) Danny Treacy (2)
Peake Villa u16;s travelled to Clonmel this morning minus a few regulars for what was effectively a semi final play off for the league title. Villa started the brighter and took the lead in the 8th minute. Liam McCormack played a brilliant pass out to Scott Brennan who got in behind the Clonmel defence and his inch perfect pass into the 6 yard box was tapped into an empty net by Siya. 5 minutes later Villa were 2 up. A brilliant run down the left flank by Tony Galvin and his cross from the end line was duly despatched by Danny Treacy. Villa were in control now and continued to dominate until the 20th minute when, against the run of play, Clonmel scored a spectacular goal from 30 yards. Villa almost had a third when a powerful header from Siya went narrowly over the bar following an inviting cross from Danny. Liam had a brilliant shot saved by their keeper shortly after that. 2-1 to Villa at half time.
10 minutes into the second half another speculative shot from distance saw Clonmel equalise. 7 minutes later Clonmel took the lead with another long range effort. Villa didn’t drop their heads and their efforts for an equaliser were rewarded 10 minutes later when a clearance from Clonmel’s keeper was intercepted by Liam near the half way line and his incredible lob bounced in front of the Clonmel goal up onto the crossbar and back out to the on running Danny Treacy who headed into the empty net. Villa took control again and had a few chances to take the lead but to no avail. With 2 minutes left, just as it looked like the game was going into extra time, yes you guessed it, another speculative effort from outside the box from Clonmel sailed into the top corner. Unbelievable!!! F-T Clonmel 4 Peake Villa 3.
Villa were easily the better team on the day and gave 100% to the cause. Our defence was resolute. Not once did Clonmel get through and all 4 goals came from outside the box. In fact they were the only shots they managed to get on target in the whole game. Best for Villa were Shane Turner, Sean Condron, Tony Galvin, Liam McCormack and, in my opinion, the most improved player this season Tristan Loughman Twomey. Martin Turner and I had to look after the team today as both Paul and Brian weren’t available. Ye have a great bunch of lads there and ye can be proud of their efforts today. Keep up the good work and best of luck in the cup semi final.
TSSDL Tipperary Cup Boys u14 Premier - 1st Round - Bansha Celtic A 8-1 Peake Villa u14
TSSDL Tipperary Cup Boys u13 Division 1 - 1st Round - Peake Villa u13B 4-0 Donohill
Scorers: Conor Carroll (1) Dylan Cotter (1) Tom Daly (1) Pierce Ivors (1)
Villa u13B welcomed Donohil to the Tower Grounds Saturday and went ahead 2 minutes into the game with great work from Tom Daly who found Conor Carroll to make it 1 nil. 15 minutes into the game they were 2 nil up when Conor Carroll gave a great through ball to Dylan Cotter who made no mistake. Villa were well on top, with great defensive work from Jamie, Gabriel, Jack and Ben at the back. Dylan hit the post just before half time. Half-time 2-0 to Villa.
Villa came out strong in the second half and were unlucky not to make it 3, when great work from Pierce who shot just wide. Villa did go 3 up with a great goal from Tom Daly on 15 minutes, after some great passing from Aaron, Corey and Leelan. With 5 minutes to go Pierce made it 4 nil with some great work from John Delaney and Kyle O'Donnell. Full-Time 4-0 to Villa. Credit must go to James McBrearty who stepped into goal today and kept a clean sheet. This was a great performance from the lads to reach the Tipperary Cup Final in a few weeks.
