Peake Villa Junior B 4-2 v Clonmel Town B

The Peake Villa Junior B squad entertained Clonmel Town B this morning in a must win game for both sides as they try to avoid the drop into Division 2. Clonmel Town started the busier of the two sides with some lovely football being played by both. It was Clonmel Town who took the lead after 15 mins when their centre forward found a bit of space in front of the Villa defence and slotted through to the oncoming left winger who scored with a lovely finish into the top corner. 1-0 Town. Villa began to find their rhythm and penned Clonmel Town into their own half for much of the first half. A cross into the box found Gubby Jordan unmarked and be made no mistake after 35 mins to equalise the game. 1-1 HT.
Villa came out of the traps brightly and looked the more threatening of the two sides. Adam Garret received a lovely weighted pass by David Bourke and Adam slotted home for a 2-1 lead to Villa. Villa made it 3-1 after 70 mins after a devastating break away goal from a Clonmel Town corner. A lovely dummy by David Mahoney let Conor Lanigan free in on the Clonmel Town goal. Conor baring down on the Clonmel Town keeper made no mistake and side footed into the corner. Clonmel responded immediately with a superb finish by the Town midfielder to bring the game back to 3-2. Town began to look threatening again, particularly from set plays. With the game still in the melting pot, Villa wrapped up the points with ten minutes to go. Lovely intricate build up on the edge on the Villa box let David Mahoney free who made no mistake with a nice finish. Substitute John Walsh had a nice effort tipped over the bar just on the 90th minute. Game finished 4-2 to Villa.
This result gives Villa Bs a lifeline today in the Division 1 relegation battle. Best on the day was Conor Lanigan who had a brilliant game and always looked a threat. David Bourke, Mark Lennon and Gubby Jordan were others who impressed.

Cullen-Lattin B 1-3 Peake Villa Youths

Villa travelled to Cullen-Lattin chasing their first win of the season and got off to a great start with some lovely play knocking the ball around and keeping the pressure on Cullen-Lattin. Midway in the first half Niall Dunne netted to put Villa 1-0 ahead. Shortly after a very in form Conor Murphy twisted and turned the Cullen-Lattin defence to put Villa 2-0 ahead, this was after some great work from the Villa full back. Half time 2-0 Villa.
Second half started with Cullen-Lattin applying some pressure and came close with a few chances and eventually broke down the Villa defence to make it 2-1 on the 70th minute. Both teams worked hard to get the next goal, with both sides hitting the crossbar and having a few half chances. The goal came on the last kick of the game by Danny Treacy to get Villa their 3rd goal. Full-time: Cullen-Lattin 1-3 Peake Villa Youths. Joint man of the match Conor Murphy and Scott Brennan.
