Our A team were back in action after a break due to weather. A sunny but cold day up at the Tower Grounds where they entertained Clonmel side Old Bridge. It was a slow start to the game with both sides without a game in a few weeks and it took a while for Villa to get into their stride. Villa had a few half chances before Pippy Carroll after some good build up play scored to the bottom corner in the 30th minute. It was all Villa before the half with Ronan McGuire making it 2-0 with a powerful shot which gave the keeper no chance. Villa went in 2-0 up at the break.
Villa made it 3-0 In the 58th minute when Mick Ryan got on the end of a corner to score. The game was over as a contest when Dale Loughnane scored in the top corner on 68 minutes. This gave the management an opportunity to bring on a few substitutes with Youth players Sean Condron and Danny Treacy replacing David Bourke and Youth player Conor Murphy who both had fine games. Villa made it 5-0 when the Old Bridge player headed into his own net from a corner on 85 minutes. Full time 5-0.
TSDL Tipperary Cup 2nd Round - Slieveardagh United 2-2 Peake Villa Junior B
Scorer: Robert Jordan (2)
AET: Slieveardagh United 5-2 Peake Villa Junior B
Villa's second team travelled to Slieiveardagh in the Tipperary Cup after this tie had been postponed twice due to inclement weather in the previous few weeks. Both sides started well. The heavy pitch due to the rain made good football very difficult to come by. John Walsh had a good chance after 5 minutes, his effort just rising over the bar. Robbie Jordan opened the scoring with a nice back post finish after good build up play. Sleiveardagh equalized soon after and the match became a dogfight from there on. HT 1-1.
Villa again started the second half bright and Adam Garret was taken down by the opposing goalkeeper for a penalty. Robbie Jordan duly obliged and added his second from the spot. Again Slieveardagh equalized with a good finish by their winger who beat Villa keeper with a smart finish. Chances were few and far between till the end of normal time. FT 2-2.
