The Peake Villa A team entertained Cahir Park on Sunday afternoon up at the Tower Grounds. The conditions in the first half were blustery with some wintry showers, this effected the flow of the game with few chances at either end. Villa had a couple of half chances with Robbie Jordan and Ronan McGuire coming close. 0-0 Half Time.

 

The weather settled down in the second half and so did Villa and started passing the ball with more purpose. The home side got the break through in the 58th minute when a Mick Ryan cross found the head of Ronan McGuire, who made no mistake heading to the bottom corner. 1-0. Villa pressed for the second and it came in the 75th minute when Ronan McGuire turned provider finding Kevin Patan in space who slotted home. 2-0. Cahir were not without chances and only for Willie Tierney making a great save they would have pulled one back. They also came close from a corner just heading over. Villa secured the points in the 90th minute when Willie Tierney made a great clearance that went over the top finding Ronan McGuire who from the tightest angles scored shooting under the keepers body. A good win for the boys against a good Cahir side. Best for Villa on the day were Alan Leahy, Mick Ryan and Ronan McGuire.
