A blustery day up at the Tower Grounds this Sunday afternoon. It was the home side that had the stiff breeze in the 1st half and made good use of it. Villa had the best of the opening exchanges and went one up after 4 minutes when a great run from Conor Lanigan who crossed to Sean Butler who laid it on to Adam Garrett who dinked a lovely shot to the top corner. Villa pressed high for the remainder of the half with Shane McGuire only a spectator in the Villa goal. The home side went 2-0 up in the 39th minute when a David Bourke corner was met by the head of Dale Loughnane who scored at the near post. Half time 2-0.
Villa played against the wind in the second half, but this did not stop them from dominating. Playing some good football keeping it on the deck with some slick passing. The points were secured in the 70th minute when Conor Lanigan scored to cap a fine performance. Some good performances on the day from Sean Butler, David Bourke, Dale Loughnane and man of the match Conor Lanigan. Full Time 3-0.
