Joe Delaney Youth Cup Final Peake Villa 3 - 1 BT Harps
The Peake Villa Youths travelled to Drombane Sunday evening going for the treble after already clinching the League and the Tipperary Cup. BT Harps were the opposition on the day and with a young team they done their club proud. Villa started well and were in control from the start and got the break through on 19 minutes when Billy Mccarthy found the net from close range. The lead was short lived though, BT Harps were on the attack straight from the kick off and were awarded a penalty on the 20th minute which was calmly put away by Matty Greed. Adam Garrett hit the post twice after this and Villa were unlucky not to be ahead at the break. 1-1 @ half time.
The boys did not dwell on the missed chances from the 1st half and went ahead in the 50th minute when a nice piece of individual play from Adam Garrett seen him calmly find the corner of the net. Villa went 3-1 ahead in the 54th minute when man of the match Billy McCarthy got his 2nd of the day. BT Harps to their credit didn't give up and tried hard to get back into the game but Villa's defence were well organised and kept them out.
A great victory for the boys and it is the first time the Joe Delaney Cup has been won by Peake Villa Youths, another feather in the cap for their manager Davie McGuire and his team Ted O'Connor, Rob Mellow and Shane McGuire. Great achievement well done to all.
