TSDL Premier League Two Mile Borris A 0-4 Peake Villa A
Scorer: Pippy Carroll (1) Frank McKevitt (1) Ronan McGuire (1) Keith Cahill (1)
Our Junior A team travelled to our near neighbors Sunday morning. The first 15 minutes was a tit for tat affair with chances limited. Villa did break the deadlock in the 21st minute when Ronan McGuire laid it off to Pippy Carroll who put it away nicely. Ronan did put the ball in the net from a header, but it was called off side. Shortly after Pippy had a shot that flew passed the post. Borris weren't without their own chances but Willie Tierney dealt with anything that came his way. Half Time 0-1.
The second half saw Villa push on and fitness started to play a big part and Villa made it 2-0 in the 48th minute when Captain Pippy turned provider laying off to Frank McKevitt, who slotted under the oncoming keeper. Villa were well on top now and made it 3-0 in the 55th minute when McKevitt crossed to Ronan McGuire who headed into the top corner. Villa secured the win when Keith Cahill slotted home in the 57th minute. Villa made four substitution's in the last half hour with Mikey Wade, Kevin Patan, Alan Leahy and Robbie Stapleton coming on. There were no more goals in the game but Mikey Wade did come close hitting the post late on. This was a good team performance and best for Villa were Mick Ryan and Captain Pippy Carroll.
TSDL Division One Peake Villa B 3-5 Wilderness Rovers
Scorers: Tom O'Reilly (1) Kevin Croke (1) Christy Burke (1)
Villa were hoping to put last week’s disappointment behind them against a strong physical Wilderness team. The game started well for the home team, when Tom O'Reilly scored after 5 mins. Wildernesses made their dominance count when they equalized after 15 mins. It was a midfield battle for the rest of the half with Gubby Jordan, Maris Baltins and Keelan Graham giving as good as they got as Wilderness piled on the pressure. Just before half time Villa failed to deal with a long ball and ended up with the visitors taking a 2-1 lead at half time.
In the second half Villa started better and went close through Christy Burke and Danny Treacy and scored a deserved equalizer in the 60th minute through Kevin Croke . Wilderness again took the lead when Villa again failed to deal with a free kick into the box and gave Shane McGuire no chance in the Villa goal. Villa restored parity through a Christy Burke strike soon after and both teams went for the win. The visitors added 2 goals in the last 10 minutes to take the victory. Best on the day for Villa was Shane McGuire, Cormac Lanigan and Christy Burke.
