TSDL Match Reports Saturday 4th September - Week 5
TSDL Youth League Div 1 - Galbally United 1-4 Peake Villa Youths
Leaders Galbally put their league credentials on the line today as they took on title contenders Peake Villa in a mouth watering clash in Galbally. In what was a tough physical start to the game Villa had the best chances to open the scoring but missed a host of chances. Galbally rarely threatened the Villa defence but were always dangerous with their long ball tactics. Villa made their dominance count in the 25th minute when an in swinging corner was met by Michael Anthony McCarthy to put the away side ahead. 5 minutes later Villa doubled their lead from another set piece as Siya Ndzigani rose highest to make it 2-0. Soon after the restart the ever dangerous Robbie Stapleton got taken down in the box and duly slotted the resulting penalty. Half time Galbally 0-3 Peake Villa.
The 2nd half proved to be a stop start affair and both teams cancelling each other out with strong defending by Aiden Butler and Conor Wall. Galbally received a reprieve after Villa were reduced to 10 men and soon after pulled a goal back. But Villa restored their 3 goal advantage after another superb finish by Michael Anthony McCarthy to kill the game as a contest. Villa saw out the game well to claim the vital 3 points.
Best for Villa were Conor Wall, Aiden Butler, Scott Brennan and Michael Anthony McCarthy.

Munster Junior Cup 1st Round - Peake Villa 12-0 Tipperary Town

We entertained an under strength Tipperary Town side up in the Tower Grounds Sunday afternoon. It was a day of goals up in Villa and there were some great goals scored. It was in the 4th minute that the home side took the lead with Willie Tierney in the Villa Goal cleared a long ball that deceived the Tipp defence but not Ronan McGuire, who ran onto it and made no mistake. 1-0. Villa only had to wait three minutes to make it 2-0 when Christy Burke scored. Sean Wade got in on the act when he scored from a corner in the 11th minute. Jack Ryan Casey made it 4-0 on 19 minutes. On 21 minutes Burke got the ball from under his feet and put away a nice finish to the corner. Dale Loughnane made a great run down the left in the 30th minute and crossed to McGuire who made no mistake and that made it 6-0 to the home side going in at half time.
Villa made changes at half time but this did not slow them down and the pace was kept up throughout the second half. On 48 minutes Christy Burke completed his hattrick with a great finish.
On 57 minutes Dale Loughnane made a great run down the left and his finish was excellent to make it 8-0. Kevin Patan made it 9 on the hour mark. McGuire made it 10 and secured his hattrick in the 70th minute. Keith Cahill capped a fine performance adding 2 late on to finish off the scoring, the second of which was a fine free kick.
Best on the day for Villa were Darragh Byrne, Keith Cahill and man of the match Dale Loughnane.
