Clonmel Credit Union Tipperary Cup 3rd Round
Peake Villa Junior A 0-1 St. Michael's
Our Junior A team entertained St.Michaels Sunday morning in what was a blustery day. It was a cagey affair in the first half with both defences well on top, giving away very little with just half chances for both sides. Half time 0-0.
Villa had a great chance to take the lead only one minute into the second half when Anto Walker broke through and tried to chip the keeper but the keeper got a hand to it and knocked it out for a corner. The visitors took the lead in the 68th minute when Jimmy Carr found the back of the net. 0-1 Villa tried to get back into it and had a few chances near the end but they couldn't find the net and the holders bow out of the Tipperary Cup. Best for Villa were Darragh Byrne, Dale Loughnane and Jack Ryan Casey.
Paddy Purtill Cup Semi-Final
Clonmel Town B 1-3 Peake Villa Junior B KO 3:00pm M. Coady
Scorers: Foggy Fogarty (2) Shane McGuire (1) Penalty
Our Junior B team travelled to Clonmel Town expecting a tough battle from the home team and both teams started cagey but then Villa began to dominate the midfield exchanges. Villa had the first chance of the game when Sean Butler made a great run down left wing but missed the target with his effort. The home team lost their centre forward to injury soon after and this turned the tide in Villa's favour as he had forced a couple of early saves from Shane McGuire. Foggy Fogarty was starting to dominate the home team centre backs and set up a number of chances for Conor Nurphy and Robbie Stapleton. It was Fogarty who opened the scoring for Villa when he found the bottom corner to put villa 1-0 up.
The second half was 15 minutes old when Villa were awarded penalty when Robbie Stapleton was fouled in box and Shane McGuire converted the resulting penalty. The home side got one back with 15 mins to go after a mix up in the Villa defence but the game was secured soon after when Conor Murphy got to the endline and crossed for Foggy Fogarty to tap home his second and Villa saw out the remainder of the game to book their place in the Paddy Purtill Cup Final. Best on day for Villa were Sean Butler, Aidan McCormack, Adam Garrett, Connor Murphy and man of match Foggy Fogarty.
