u13 Boys Peake Villa 1 - 4 St. Kevins, scorer for PV Oisin O Brien
The score line did not reflect this game with villa having a lot of the play but Kevin’s were more clinical in front of goal. Villa got off to a good start when they were awarded a penalty when the goalie brought down Oisin O Brien who scored to put Villa 1-0 ahead. Kevin’s got back level soon after when Villa did not clear their lines and the ball fell to an attacker who scored. Kevin’s went 2-1 up before the break when they scored from a free kick. 2-1 at half time.
Villa were well on top for most of the 2nd half and were awarded another penalty 2 minutes in when Paddy Creedon was brought down but the penalty was drove over the bar by Oisin O’ Brien. Villa found it hard to break down a stern Kevin’s defence and we’re caught twice on the break late on while trying to get an equaliser.
FAI Youth Cup - St. Michael's 2 - 3 Peake Villa scorers for PV Michael Foley and Jack Cleary (2)
This was always going to be a tough match as travelling to play St. Michael's under lights in their own Cooke Park was going to be difficult. The Villa's lads started brightly and had a number of shots that unfortunately not on target. They were made to pay when Michael's broke quickly down the field from a Villa corner, Villa defenders failed to clear the cross and Michaels pounced for the opening goal. Villa we’re still a bit sluggish and had some of their passes going astray. Again Michael's broke down the left side after intercepting a Villa pass and the shot on goal beat the Villa keeper Mark Purcell for the ball to hit the right upright and bounce back into the six yard box, where the Michael's player was quickest to react and slotted the goal home from inside the six yard box. Towards the end of the first half Villa had begun to settle and were creating a lot of chances on Michael's goal and were rewarded when Michael Foley got his head to a lovely cross and planted the ball past the diving Michael's keeper. Half-Time 2-1.
The second half saw a much more determined Villa side take the game to Michael's and Michael's defence put up a great defensive wall that the Villa's players failed to break down. The difference between the two teams came down to fitness and a little bit of luck that fell to Villa. Villa with twenty minutes to go brought on Jack Cleary who made an immediate impact when he latched onto a downward header from Jack Hackett and scored. Both sides were now going hammer and thongs up and down the pitch and a number of players went down on both sides with cramp. Jacket Hackett flicked on a great pass from Michael Foley, and was one on one with the Michael's keeper who made a great save to deny the goal. Lady luck fell to Villa when Dale Loughnane and Michael Foley combined to send a rasper down the right side of the goal, which the Michael's keeper dived to his left to save but his momentum carried him further along the ground and the ball spilled out of his grasp into the path of a grateful Jack Cleary who flicked the ball into the back of the net.
This game was a great advertisement of Youth Football in South Tipperary as both teams played their hearts out and give their all in an entertaining FAI Youth CUP game of football.

FAI Junior Cup - Junior A 3 - 3 Nenagh Celtic AET Villa win 4-3 on Penalties, scorers for PV Jamie Morrisey, Dale Loughnane, Sean Wade
Old rivalries resumed in this enthralling cup game with Villa just edging it. Nenagh took the lead in the 5th minute with a fine solo goal from Brian McGee. Villa got back level in the 15th with a Jamie Morrissey goal. Villa then gave away a soft penalty in the 20th minute which was scored by Nenagh’s Dan Dalton. Villa came back again in the 30th with a fine header from youth player Dale Loughnane. Villa conceded another penalty and Dan Dalton was again on target. 3-2 at half time.
The second half was a much more cautious affair with the Nenagh goalie in fine form and Villa found it hard to break them down hitting the upright on more than one occasion but the breakthrough came with 5 minutes of normal time left when Sean Wade got on the end of a good cross to head to the net. Both teams could not be separated in extra time and the game went to penalties which saw Shane Ryan making 2 great saves to book Villa’s place into the next round.
