Munster Junior Cup Peake Villa 3 - 1 Cullen/Lattin
Villa came out on top in this entertaining tie. Lattin took the lead after 5 minutes with a goal from Darren McCarthy, Villa replied in the 15th minute when John McLoughlin found the net from a great pass by Pippy Carroll. It was Carroll who put Villa ahead in the 26th minute with a great free kick. Villa lost Eoin O’Dwyer just at half time for a 2nd yellow card which was a bit harsh.
With Villa down to 10 men Lattin gave it a right go in the 2nd half without really creating much which had a lot to do with Villa’s outstanding defence of Shane Dunne, Ted O Connor, Kevin Croke and John Mclouchlinn. Adam Garrett finished the game as a contest when he scored a nice individual goal with 5 minutes to go.
Youths League St. Michael's 0 - 3 Peake Villa
This was the 2nd meeting in a week for these two teams. With Villa just edging last week’s game by the odd goal they had a more comfortable win this time round playing some good football. Mikey Wade, Dale Loughnane and Jack Cleary were on target for Villa.
U15 National Cup Villa (Waterford) 6 - 1 Peake Villa
This was always going to be a tough task, Villa of Waterford have a strong history in this competition and proved it in this tie. Ronan McGuire was the scorer for Peake.
U13 National Cup Peake Villa 0 - 3 Evergreen (Kilkenny)
Our 13’s started well and were unlucky not to go ahead when a free kick from Jack Kelly was met by the head of Paddy Creedon who just headed wide. Evergreen took the lead midway through the 1st half when a harmless enough cross ended up in the Villa net. The score line could have been a lot worse only for James Armstrong in the Villa defence. The 2nd half was much the same with Villa pushing for an equaliser they got caught on the break twice near the end.
U11’s League
The U11 A's won 6-4 away to St Michaels's A. The guys found themselves two down after 10 minutes but rallied well, and after sustained pressure scored two goals through Robbie Stapleton and Ciaran Woodlock to level the scores at half time. Villa started well early in the second half and took the lead through a goal from Darragh Minogue. St Michaels equalised within two minutes, but a well worked move resulted in the Tommy Maher coolly slotting the ball home from the edge of the box to give Villa the lead again. This was quickly followed by another goal from Ciaran Woodlock when his speculative shot from outside the box slipped through the keepers hand. St Michaels then had a spell of pressure and they scored with a long range effort to make the score 5-4. However after surviving a few nervy moments, Robbie Stapleton won the ball on the half way line and ran through to slot the ball under the keeper to give the win to Villa, 6-4. A very well contested game overall, all players played well, and it was a good team effort overall.
The U11 B’s game was postponed.
The U11 C's drew 2-2 at home to Clonmel Celtic B. A close first half resulted in no goals been scored by either team, with both teams missing chances. Villa went behind early in the second, but they came back well, with some good passing moves and two goals from Daniel Maher put them into the lead 2-1. Unfortunately they could not keep out Clonmel Celtic, and a late goal gave them a 2-2 draw. Overall a well contested game with Villa improving in the second half but unable to hold on for the win.
