Premier League Peake Villa (A) 6 - 1 Two Mile Borris
Villa got the better of their near rivals with a clinical display of finishing. Villa took the lead from a Jamie Morrisey strike on 30 minutes. 1:0 half time. Villa took over completely in the 2nd half with the wind at their backs. Pippy Carroll scored Villa’s 2nd from a header. They went 3-0 up from an OG. They made it 4 when Adam Garrett scored 20 minutes into the 2nd half. Borris got 1 back through a penalty which was put away by Michael Butler. Villa got 2 near the end to put the game to bed, the goals were scored by Eoin Ryan and Tom Rykala. The win makes it 5 wins on the spin for the A’s. The boys are playing a nice blend of football with some of last year’s youths and some of the experienced old Guard gelling well together. The Club would like to sympathise with the Grace family (Littleton) on their recent bereavement.
Youths League Peake Villa 2 - 0 Clonmel Town
Villa were smarting from last weeks cup exit on penalties to Clonmel Town but exacted revenge in clinical style. The early exchanges were even but once the Villa midfield of Maris Baltins and Micheal Foley started to turn the screw the home side had most of the play. Foley gave villa the lead after a brilliant Dale Loughnane run down the left set him up at the near post on 23 minutes. Villa were out of the blocks quicker in the second period and increased their advantage with a super, instinctive first time finish from Jack Cleary after 10 minutes. Town thereafter never really threatened a miserly Villa defence who have conceded only four goals in eight games and marshalled superbly by Anto Walker and Colm Pearson. However, a last minute penalty to the visitors was saved magnificently by Endjis Mickelsons. This was a very good team display and may prove to be a vital three points in the quest for honours.
U13 League Clonmel Town 2 - 1 Peake Villa
Villa had the breeze in the 1st half and we’re dominant for most of it and took the lead on 18 minutes when a free kick from Jack Kelly was well saved by the Town keeper but he could only deflect it onto the bar where Henry Fogarty was quickest to react for Villa and scored. Clonmel playing with the breeze in the 2nd half equalized 2 minutes in when a free kick was not dealt with and was headed in by an oncoming forward. Villa we’re well in the game after this and both sides had chances. Clonmel got the winner in the cruellest of ways when they got a corner in the 5th minute of injury time and the ball went directly in to the net.
U14 Girls League Killenaule 0 - 4 Peake Villa
This was a good start for the Girls in there 1st league game. The girls played some good football throughout and we’re 2-0 up at the break with goals from Ciara Maher and Ellie Maher. The2nd half saw the same 2 girls add another each to make the final score 4-0.
U11’s Peake Villa A 4 - 3 Clonmel Town A
In very windy conditions, Villa came out on top in a seven goal thriller. Villa started the game well, with good passing moves but went a goal behind after 10 minutes. The team kept playing well and got back on level terms just before half time through a well taken goal by Ciaran Woodlock. Playing against the wind in the second Villa went a goal behind after five minutes, but two quick goals from Ciaran Woodlock, the second of which came when he robbed the Clonmel centrehalf inside the Clonmel half before running through and slotting the ball home, quickly restored the lead, and Niall Dunne then, scored a goal from long range which gave Villa a 4-2 lead. Clonmel then put the Villa defence under a lot of pressure which paid off with an own goal been scored by a Villa player to make the score 4-3. However Villa got back into the game and finished strongly to ensure the win. Credit due to all the Villa players for an excellent performance.
Peake Villa B 2 - 1 Clonmel Celtic
The Villa B team came out on top in another close game played in very windy conditions. A good start by the Villa team saw them get an early lead with a well taken goal by Eoin Stakelum. Clonmel Celtic then settled into the game and got back on level terms when from a well taken corner kick the ball deflected off a Villa player to level the match before half time. Playing against the wind, Villa were put under a lot of pressure with the defence and goalkeeper Jack Condon, doing a good job in keeping the scores level. With ten minutes to go Brian Gleeson won the ball on the halfway line, and ran through the Clonmel defence before slotting the ball home. Villa had a couple more chances to extend the lead but were unable to take them. Well done to all the Villa players on a hard earned win.
U10’s Peake Villa A 1 - 2 St. Michaels
This was highly entertaining from both teams with the Michaels goalie unpassable for the most part. Samuel Ryan got the Villa goal.
Peake Villa B 4 - 1 Mullinahone
A great performance from the B team which saw Michael Anthony McCarthy score a hatrick and Eoin Carew got the other.
