Peake Villa Fc South Tipperary & District League Youths Champions 2014/2015
Our Youths secured the title at the weekend when Clonmel who had two league games to play lost to St.Micheals which meant our Youths who only lost one game all season and won all the others could not be caught. Great achievement for the team who should be very proud and they still have a cup final to come. Well done to Padraig, Willie, Sean and all the team.
Peter O’ Reilly Cup Semi Final
Peake Villa (B) 4
Suirside 1
Villa entertained Suirside in this cup tie who are flying high in the 3rd division. But like any Cup tie the under dogs always have a chance and it was a case of just that when the Villa boy’s took 4 of theirs.
Anthony Walker opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a fine finish inside the box. Kevin Dunne made it 2-0 when his cross found the top corner of the net. Tom Rykala made it 3-0 five minutes before the break with a fine strike. Suirside tried hard to get back into the game in the 2nd half and got one back through a penalty which was slotted away by Alan Ward. Aidan McCormack sealed the win for Villa with a fine strike, a win that sees the underdog going through to the final.
U13 League
St.Kevins 2
Peake Villa 1
Villa started bright and came close early on but it was the home team who took the lead in the 20th minute. Jack Kelly came very close just before the break when his shot wizzed passed the upright. Villa got back into the game 14 minutes into the 2nd half when Oisin O Brien’s cross found James Armstrong whose shot was well saved by the keeper, Armstrong got his head to the ball from the rebound and it fell to Jack Kelly whose shot found the top of the net. It was nip and tuck after this with both sides creating chances but Villa we’re just on top in the 2nd half but they we’re cruelly caught in the last minute of injury time when Kevin’s scored from a hopeful strike.
U16 Girls League
Peake Villa 0
Killenaule 1
A win for the girls in this game would have put them right in contention for the league but it wasn’t to be and missing some key players for the game did not help. It was 0-0 at half time but only for the heroics of the Villa keeper Saoirse Teer who made some brilliant saves. The goal came in the 10 minutes into the 2nd half from a great strike by the Killenaule striker.
U12 Girls Cup
Cashel Town (B) 0
Peake Villa 1
The first win of the season for the 12 girls and what an important one in the Cup. The girls we’re under strength and we’re missing their influential goal keeper Katie Gleeson who is injured and we wish her a speedy recovery. The goal came early on through Chloe Cummins and they held out for the rest of the game for a great win with Anna Derby playing very good in defence.
