U16 Boys SFAI National Cup Carrick United 3 - 1 Peake Villa
The team had a poor start to the fixture as we arrived in Carrick at 10am for our KO at 11am to discover a fixtures error with Carrick Utd expecting to play Cahir Park at 2:30pm. After a number of phone calls with both league fixture secretarys and agreement on site, the U16 Villa team management agreed to play the game against Carrick Utd at 2:30pm. We took the lads away for breakfast and had a leisurely stroll on the banks of the river Suir.
The game started with Carrick Utd intent on pinning Villa in their own half, the Villa defence and mid-field absorbed all the pressure and were unlucky not to go one up when Jack Hacket put Conor Murphy through for his shot to narrowly miss on the left. A few minutes later Jack Hacket rose highest to meet an excellent cross from Mathew Kelly with a flick of his head for the ball to hit the cross bar. This seemed to spur Carrick Utd on and both sides continued to play quick passing football. The deadlock was broken when Villa failed to clear a goalmouth scramble and Carrick scored with toe poke from 2 yards. Both sides continued to serve up a good brand of football with both sides having chances to score.
Half Time Carrick Utd 1 - 0 Peake Villa.
Villa came out fighting in the second half and had numerous chances to score but the final shot was not on target. After 20 minutes Villa got the equaliser they deserved when Mark Purcell broke down the right side and curved a lovely shot across the keeper into the top left hand corner. Five minutes later Conor Murphy nearly gave Villa the lead but with the keeper beaten his shot rebounded off the upright and was quickly cleared by the Carrick defence.
With 10 minutes to go a slip in defensive concentration allowed Carrick to score once again from a failed corner clearence. This rocked Villa, but the boys demonstrated their never-say-die attitude and pounded the Carrick goal to get their second equaliser. Jack Hacket, Matthew McKevitt and Jack O'Meara all came close, and with only a few minutes left Carrick caught Villa on the break to score their third.
Final Score Carrick Utd 3 - 2 Peake Villa. Well done on a great team effort and best of luck to Carrick Utd in the next round of the cup.

Villa played better in the 2nd half and had a lot of chances but went 3-1 down 10 minutes into the half through the penalty spot. Villa made it 3-2 with 10 minutes to go and pushed hard for the equalizer but could not take their chances.
U16 Girls Peake Villa 9 - 0 Tipperary Town
The Girls U16 had their first match in the league against Tipperary Town. The game was an even contest for the first 15 minutes as both sets of girls were finding their feet. Villa had a number of chances on gaol, with Sarah McKevitt, Saoirse O’Meara and Shauna Cleary all with shots on target that were well saved by the Tipperary Town keeper. On 15 minutes the deadlock was broken with Sarah McKevitt scoring a rasper to the bottom left corner.
