Cahir came back into the game and scored their first goal just before half time. The second half saw Cahir keep the pressure on Peake Villa and they scored the equaliser after 20 minutes. The game was end to end for the next 20 minutes with both sides creating scoring chances. Cahir Park broke the deadlock with 10 minutes to go when scoring their 3rd from a corner.
U14 league Peake Villa 2 - 2 Bansha Celtic.
These two teams played out an enjoyable game for everyone on Saturday morning. Both sides had good spells of possession early on with few chances created. Villa got the opener with a goal of real quality, Paddy Creedon broke down the right before chipping the ball to Eamonn White who caught it on the volley and fired into the top corner. Villa should have doubled the lead minutes later when Sean Condron played a lovely ball across the box but the villa players failed to capitalise. 5 minutes before half time Bansha played a lovely passing move through the middle of the Villa defence and finished it off with a goal to leave the sides level at half time. The second half was similar to the first. Villa missed a glorious chance to go back in front from a corner and within seconds Bansha broke straight from it and caught Villa on the counter attack to take the lead in the game. Villa fought back straight away and within minutes were back level when a good move ended with Liam McCormack playing in Cathal McElgun who fired home on his first appearance for the14s. Eamonn White was very unlucky not to get a second for himself only for a fine save from the Bansha keeper. Villa could have gone away with all 3 pts when Paddy Creedon's free kick clipped the crossbar with the final action of the game.
The U14 Management and players would like to wish our 3 players James Armstrong , Jack Kelly and Paddy Creedon all the best for the week ahead as they head to Barcelona with the Tipperary Kennedy Cup team
U16 Girls Premier League: Tipperary Town 1 – 4 Peake Villa.
Both sides were without regular u16 players and had a number of u14 players filling in. Villa scored after 10 minutes when Ellie Maher latched onto the ball outside the box and sent a low flying shot under the out rushing keeper. Tipperary Town scored the equaliser after 20 minutes when Saoirse Teer made a great point blank diving save but the rebound fell to the Tipp forward who calmly slotted the ball into the net. Just before half-time Rebeca Bermingham-Jordan hit a speculative shot from distance that the Town keeper failed to gather and went in for Villa’s second. In the 2nd half Villa piled on the pressure and were rewarded when from a corner Saoirse gathered and released the ball quickly to Lauren McCormack who rounded her marker and calmly shot for goal number three. Just before the end of the game Katie Maher made a fearless tackle which resulted in the ball breaking to Lauren McCormack who broke down the right side and slotted home her second and Villa’s fourth goal.
U12 Girls Premier League: Killlenaule 1-2 Peake Villa A, scorer for Villa was Chloe Shorley (2)
This was a hard fought contest from two teams who we're very committed. Peake Villa started the better and had some good chances with Emma Kelly hitting the post and Chloe Shorleys shot just going wide of the post. Killenaule started to get into the game more and took the lead from an excellent volley 10 minutes to half time. Villa equalised when the keeper failed to catch the ball and it fell to Chloe Shorley who scored to make it 1-1 at the break. Killenaule had chances at the start of the second half but Katie Gleeson was having a fine game in goal. Villa hit the crossbar with ten minutes to go when a corner from Missy Condon was headed by Chloe Byrne only for the keeper to get her finger tips to it and save it onto the bar.An excellent header from Chloe. The all-important winner came when good pressure from Villa saw the ball fall to Shorley who calmly slotted the ball to the bottom corner. A great team performance.
U12 Girls Championship League: Tipperary Town 2 – 1 Peake Villa B, scorer for Villa was Aoibhe Gleeeson
The girls played their heart out and were minutes from getting a win, but were undone by two late goals conceded which gave victory to Tipperary Town.
U12 Boys Premier League: Clonmel Town A 2 – 0 Peake Villa A.
The A team travelled to Clonmel last Saturday for the top of the table clash with Clonmel Town. A bright start by the lads saw them nearly score after 1 minute when Philip Hayes shot against the post. The Villa boys worked very hard to create chances while keeping Clonmel at bay, and created a number of chances, and nearly scored through Ciaran Woodlock, and Siya Ndzingani, who had shots saved by the Clonmel Keeper. The defence worked very hard to minimise Clonmel chances, and the teams finished half level at 0-0. Villa again started the second half very well, and Robbie Stapleton almost scored when his well hit shot from the edge of the box was tipped onto the crossbar by the Clonmel keeper. Clonmel Town took the lead five minutes into the second half when a hopeful long ball, eluded the Villa defence, and the advancing Clonmel forward lobbed the ball over the onrushing Villa keeper and into the empty net. Villa were stunned by this and it took them a while to get back into the game as Clonmel Town applied a lot of pressure and the Villa defence was nearly breached again only for some good defending by them. To the boys credit, they kept going forward, and had a good claim for a penalty turned down by the referee, when Robbie Stapleton was bundled over in the box when attempting to get to the ball after a shot by Philip Hayes was parried by the Clonmel Town keeper. A couple of minutes later Robbie Stapleton, again broke through the Clonmel Town defence, and he lobbed the advancing keeper only to see the ball come back off the crossbar. Robbie nearly managed to bundle the follow up over the line, but the Clonmel defenders got back to clear. With 5 minutes to go, Clonmel Town went two up when a wayward pass in midfield, allowed the Clonmel attack to beat the Villa offside trap and score the decisive second goal. A fantastic effort by all the Villa players, who with a bit of luck could have won the game.
U12 Boys Championship League: Cashel Town 2 – 0 Peake Villa B.
The B team travelled to Cashel to play the local team on Saturday, and turned in a good performance without getting any reward. the first half was very even with both teams creating chances without scoring to finish the first half 0-0. The second half followed the pattern of the first, but Cashel converted two of their chances to win 2-0. A good effort by all the players, especially James Ayliarian, and Eoin Stakelum.
U12 Boys Division 1 League: Peake Villa C 1 – 7 St. Michael’s B, scorer for Villa was Michael Anthony McCarthy
The Villa C team went down to a heavy defeat against a strong St Michaels team last Saturday. It took the boys a while to settle into the game, as St Michaels played some good football. They took the lead after 20 minutes with a well taken goal, but Villa equalised six minutes later through Michael Anthony McCarthy. St Michaels again soon after to lead 2-1 at half time. The Villa team never got going in the second half and conceded3 goals in the first 15 minutes. They then conceded a penalty which St Michaels converted and they added another goal before full time, to win 7-1. A disappointing day for the C team , but they kept going to the end, and deserve credit for that, despite the heavy defeat.
