U12 Boys SFAI Cup 4th Round Last 64 Peake Villa 3 - 1 Clerihan

Pride of place goes to the history making U12 squad who have qualified for the last 32 of the SFAI National Cup. Boys you have done yourselves, your parents, your coaches and the club proud as this is the first time in Peake Villa's Schoolboys recent history that we have a schoolboys team in the last 32. Well Done.

Kevin Cummins

Chairman Schools Committee

Peake Villa FC

Clerihan were the visitors to the Tower Grounds Saturday for this 4th round tie of the National Cup. Villa started the better and went 1-0 up in the 5th when jack Kelly crossed and the ball was only half cleared and fell to Paddy creedon who blasted to the back of the net. Clerihan started to get into the game after this and got back on level terms when they scored from a corner in the 17th minute.

The second half was a tight affair with both sets of defenders playing well, Reece Carroll and Connor Stapleton played well for the Villa in the middle of defence and man of the match Paddy Creedon controlled midfield. Villa finally made the breakthrough 20 minutes in when James Armstrong slipped a nice ball through to Henry Fogarty who calmly found the corner of the net. Villa made it 3-1 three minutes later when Fogarty turned provider and put Oisin O Brien in to secure the tie for Villa and put them into the last 32. Well done to the team and to the coaches.

U14 Boys SFAI Cup 4th Round Last 64 Peake Villa 1 - 1 Tramore (After Extra Time Peake Villa 1 - 4 Tramore)
The U14’s started well and were comfortable in the 1st half with neither side having too many chances but the breakthrough came 2 minutes before half time when Kevin Bracken scored for Villa to give the home side a 1-0 lead at the break. The 2nd half was very similar to the 1st half with limited chances until near the end, Ronan Mc Guire was very unlucky with 10 minutes to go when he hit the cross bar from a great header. The boys held Tramore out well when under serious pressure from corners in injury time but alas there was one corner too many and they conceded in the 3rd minute of injury time.

The game went to Extra time and the boys were still getting over the equalizer when Tramore scored twice in a few minutes to put the tie beyond them and Tramore added another just before the end.

U10B Boys League away to Clerihan

This was a great game with Clerihan edging the win.

U16 Boys League Peake Villa 3 - 2 St. Michael's

The clashes over the last few years between these two teams have always produced games of high standard and today’s game was no exception. From the kick-off both teams demonstrated their ability to keep the ball on the ground a play the passing game. Michaels came closest to scoring in the first 20 minutes when their centre forward beat the offside trap and faced a one-on-one with the Villa goal keeper Endjis Mickelson who pulled off a great reflex save. For the first thirty minutes it was non-stop from one end to the other, with each side having chances to score. The deadlock was finally broken when Matthew McKevitt latched onto a lovely through ball from Connor Murphy and calmly slotted the ball over the advancing Michaels keeper. Michaels responded to conceding a goal by putting the Villa defence under a lot of pressure which was very well handled by the Villa back four. Just before half-time Michaels got their deserved equaliser when Villa failed to clear a corner and Michaels No. 10 scored from 2 yards with a well taken shot on the volley. The Half Time score was Peake Villa 1 - 1 St. Michaels.

From the start of the 2nd half the Villa team came out with all guns blazing and scored two goals in quick succession. The first was a well worked play down the left side that was switched into the centre of the box, for Jack Hackett to lay the ball back for the onrushing Mark Purcell to score from outside the box with a well executed shot on the run. The second came 5 minutes later when Connor Murphy received the ball from a great Colm Pearson pass just inside the Michael’s half and weaved his way through a number of defenders to plant the ball in the back of the net. Michael’s never gave up and were rewarded when their winger ran onto a great pass that split the Villa defence to cross back across the box for his team mate to score with a header from inside the six yard box. Michael’s tried hard to get the equaliser but the Villa squad continued to play the passing game and were deserving winners on a 3 – 2 score line.

Bansha got one back in the 64th minute with a good goal that lobbed the keeper.
