U15 Premier League Bansha Celtic 2 -2 Peake Villa
Villa travelled to a very good Bansha side on Saturday looking to continue the fine run of form them have showed domestically over the last while . Bansha started the brighter of the sides and were unlucky not to be ahead early on only for a fine save from Mark McCarthy. Villa really struggled to impose their normal game and all credit goes to Bansha for the work rate they showed. Bansha took the lead on 20 minutes when a corner found its way to the back post and was well headed home. Villa were lucky to get back in the game within a few minutes when Jack Kelly broke down the right and cut inside when his effort took a deflection and ended up in the back of the net. Villa could have went ahead just before the half when a great Jack Kelly corner was headed off the crossbar from Paddy Creedon. Villa started the second half better and were unlucky on a few occasions not to go ahead . Bansha fought back though and were causing Villa problems. They went 2 -1 ahead with a great move down the left ended with a good finish. Villa came back straight away and a great run from Liam McCormack down the left ended with a great ball to Jack Kelly who fired home from 15 yards to level the game. Both sides could have got a winner late on and only for another great save from Mark McCarty. Villa can be pleased with a draw in this very tough fixture and remain top of the table.
U13 SFAI National Cup Peake Villa 1 - 4 Ferrybank(Waterford)
Our U13 team bowed out of the SFAI National Cup on Saturday, when they were beaten by a very good Ferrybank team. The game started at a fast pace, and Ferrybank got into their stride early on, and created a few half chances, which the Villa defence dealt with well. Villa started to get into the game and created a few chances which could not be converted. From one of these chances, Villa got a corner, and from the resultant clearance Ferrybank scored a goal on the break after a defensive mistake allowed the left back to run through and score the first goal. Ferrybank buoyed by the goal then stared to create some more chances, and Villa keeper, Aidan Butler made two great saves to keep the score at 1-0. However , Ferrybank made it 2-0, five minutes from half time, when a long range shot just eluded the Villa keeper, and ended up in the net. Ferrybank started the second half strongly, and it took some good defensive work to keep them from scoring again. Villa then started to get good possession, and a superb shot from Ronan Tangri, from outside the box beat the keeper, to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Villa now when all out to get the equaliser, and Darragh Minogue, and Ronan Tangri both came close to equalising. Ferrybank broke away to make the score 3-1, before Niall Dunne almost made the score 3-2, when he hit a superb free kick from the edge of the box which just scraped the post. Ferrybank completed the scoring when another Villa defensive mistake allowed the Ferrybank forward to shoot home from close range. A great effort from all the players who with a bit of luck could have made it as close a game on scoreline as it was on the pitch.
